The b!tch will be immigrating too.

Alla, is the proud owner of a female American Staffordshire Terrier.  She is a nice dog but can be a bit intimidating at times.  I might need to teach the neighbors how to tell her to back off in Russian. ;-)

Anyone elses wife bring a pet?

Oh Phil - you cannot possible know the chuckle you just gave me.

You were SOOOO much more clever than the last person I saw who wrote on this topic.

That poor fella - a guy named Lee, asked, "has anyone brought back a dog from Ukraine?"

Boy did he get mangled over at P-L with sarcastic responses.

Irony of it was that I later met him and his wife. Now divorced. Olya and I got to know them a little bit. I think both had some major issues.

BTW - they *did* bring the PET - and as I recall, they had difficulty finding an airline that would provide carriage - and they needed a veterinary-issued health certificate and translation - but that was about it.

FWIW

Mr. philb,

Four years ago, I brought a 16-year-old cat from Moscow to New York. I  had the necessary health certificate, festooned with stamps, seals,  signatures and what might have been part of a Prokofiev score, and was  questioned thoroughly by a couple of officials at Sheremetyevo-2: "Is  this cat to be used for scientific purposes?" "Is this cat a pet?" (I  am serious.)

After a few minutes, the cat and I were allowed to proceed. His cage  fit under the passenger seat in front with me and he was quiet the  entire flight via Delta.

When I arrived at JFK, the customs agent asked, "Whatcha got there? A  cat? Psst, psst, psst," smiled and waved me through. That was it.

When I moved to Kiev, I brought two of my cats with me, but that is another story.
