Elena's is the most reputable site out there, but it's not affiliated with any agency that I know of, so you're on your own there.. Have you sent any letters yourself?. What were the responses like?

Some will tell you to register on free dating websites like Mamba or singles.ru.. I can't tell you much about singles.ru, but mamba is a waste of time.. It's for perverts and local hookups.. If you think you've received inappropriate offers on foreign sites, sing up on mamba and you'll get bombarded daily with offers of free oral sex and the like from 19 year old boys..LOL I say: stick with sites that are designed specifically for international dating, but avoid agencies because they are evil..   There's a European site whose name escapes me at the moment.. I'm sure others will know what I'm talking about it.. It' called EURO something...

I think the main difference is a dating website will not have a facilitator on the ground for when you go meet your lady..   Elenas is just a popular site with profiles where all of the women are looking for foreign partners and are willing to move abroad.. Unlike with an agency, people don't get screwed as much.. At least that's what I'm hearing..

Forgot to mention that it's common for agencies to have girls "on staff" who pose as women in the profiles during the correspondence stage and beyond..

And the few lucky men who actually are in the position to afford it, are therefore very very picky in terms of age, appearance, and other qualities of a potential bride. They look for best among the best.

That's why my point would be that if a Russian woman wants to maximize her chances for finding a right man, she should try her best to move to the West by herself first, and then to start looking. That would change her life completely, not only dating-wise.

I could not say a lot about reputation of EM, though. Nevertheless, their verification of the members, and early disclosure of their home addresses (those of men members to the other party (to women members) looks good. Other than that, men on EM look like credible relationships seeker.

Just a note on a recent change in payment policy at Elena's Models.

Until a couple of months ago, in addition to their Gold and Platinum memberships (3 months minimum, now $99 and $259, respectively), they also offered a convenient $10 alternative to correspond with 1 woman at a time only, which I thought I'd use to learn more about this 40 y.o. One of the more important differences between a "site" like EM and an agency is how they make their money. EM makes their money from subscriptions. The ladies contact information is available if she chooses to give it to you. If she chooses to give it to you then the two of you are free to communicate in any way you chose. EM has no financial stake in how you communicate and no further profit from your in person meeting. On the other hand agencies profit primarily from correspondence. They go to great lengths to keep you corresponding through the agency because they charge for the correspondence. They have a vested interest in you writing lots of letters so there is great motivation for to entice you to write to their women. They make much less of their income from introductions and meetings because not that many men make the trip. For some of them the meetings are a "front" of sorts. They pay the girls to show up for a couple of well chaperoned "dates" to maintain the "legitimacy" of the agency. For the guy unlucky to use one of these agencies and makes the trip he thinks he met the "real girl" and knows he wasn't just writing to a picture. It doesn't work out past a couple of dates, but he goes away feeling satisfied he wasn't  scammed; it just didn't work out. It boils down to how they make their money; EM doesn't make any more if you write one or a hundred letters and meetings are arranged totally by the individuals. Agencies are pretty much the exact opposite.

In my opinion, an agency with a good local office in your city is best.  Get on good terms with the managers there.  They know which men are serious and which ones are players.  There are many men who will stop in at the agency on short notice after there WOVO lady doesn't show up or doesn't work out.  Don't be afraid to meet someone on short notice.

The international dating sites work very well for the beauty queens, as Lily mentioned, but others can be lost in the crowd sometimes.  What city are you from?
