Has anybody been to Khmelnitskiy?
« on: January 21, 2006, 09:43:05 PM »
Hello to all the members of RWD,

I haven't been at this too long, but I would appreciate a little guidance if anybody can help me. I have been talking to a lady from Khmelnitskiy and am going to try to go meet her in June. Can anybody recommend any good places to stay? I had some trouble finding much information out about the town unlike a lot of other towns in Ukraine. I understand it is a little bit smaller than towns like Odessa, Kiev and Kharkov. If anybody has traveled there before, I would appreciate any tips. Also, if I should be made aware of any other type of situations in the town, I would appreciate that as well. Thank you in advance.

Boy that is going to be tough and I am not going to be a whole lot of help.  I have spent time in Kamyanets Podilsk (not too far away) and passed through  Khemelnitskiy on the train and that is it.  I do have a few suggestions though.

If you can read Russian, Khemelnitskiy has a web page.  You could also try running the link through one of the online translators.  Here it is.

Place on inquirery on the Brama travel board (but be careful here).

Try a Ukrainian travel agency like Solo East Travel.  I bet they could get you set up with something for a price.

Finally, you can have the girl you are writing look into things and make arrangements although this can obviously have its drawbacks too.

Good luck.

Thanks Philb,

I am trying to learn, but that Cyrillic alphabet is taking me a little while and I just got some of the language C.D.'s a couple of weeks ago.

This is a little off-topic, but what's going on up there in Cowboy country with UW's athletic department? I was impressed with their FB team last year, but it looks like they laid an egg this year. I was also impressed with the BB a few years ago, but they haven't made much noise in the past 2 or 3 years.
