She wont do anything to you while your there, other than maybe tell you it wont work. If you have never been there before I suggest you go. You will get a better feel of the woman and the culture. Its a good experience.
Dont worry about the risk of traveling there, its easy. The real risk starts when she says "yes" to your "will you marry me" question.

BTW.. I agree 100% with AJ.

I said a few weeks ago there is some pretty strong backlash in Kiev.  There may be a little bit of this involved in her thinking.

Also.. its a lot more interesting for her.. i mean to travel and come to you.

I have a correspondence now with one lady who categorically refused to meet with me in Russia.. because of the backlash.. in her case she also will not accept me paying for her ticket because "who knows how it will be in real" which means to me she may also be communicating with some other guys.  Nevertheless.. she insists she will pay her own way here.

This is going to become more and more common and we men should consider ourselves very fortunate as it does.  Being chosen is infinitely more comfortable than choosing.

Yes, well I actually requested her to send me the passport, and visa just to make sure she can come here if I pay for her tickets. She has travelled here before a few times already, has a friend who lives in CA thats married to someone for 5 years now.

Of course, she had no issues with this.

That's the important bit of info , ,
she has no problem with it .. so why would you be worried?

is it worry more over "how" she got the visa?

No, she did not ask me to buy the tickets, she said if it was easier for me, she could come to me instead. Of which, I asked if she could cover the expense of the ticket to get here. She said that she couldnt, so I explained to her that maybe I can pre-purchase a ticket online for her, instead of me flying to Kiev. Of course, she had no issues with this. Personally, it seems less risk for me to do this, than to actually fly out to kiev myself.

I'm sorry but I'm unclear on this. What "risk" is involved in flying to Kyiv versus her flying to you?

Convenience (for you) maybe but "risk"?

Yes, she will be staying with me in my house...but dont see much of what she can make way with....jewelry and whatnot can be put away safely. haha. I see tickets on expedia for $690 bucks, which is not a bad price and thinking of jumping on them. Non-Refundable.

$690 with tax?  If so.. that is an awesome price and you should jump on it!  On the other hand.. what if she arrives and is a psycho?  And then you have to deal with a nutcase for two weeks or however long..

To me that is a much bigger concern than her being a scammer.  It was my biggest worry inviting ladies to meet with me in St P.  What if they are awful and then I get stuck with them for x# of days?

She wont do anything to you while your there, other than maybe tell you it wont work. If you have never been there before I suggest you go. You will get a better feel of the woman and the culture. Its a good experience.

100% true.. however.. assuming she isn't psycho.. the lady is going to be in a more romantic mood because she is travelling.. and.. he has all the home court advantages.  He can go to Kiev later.

AJ,

Yes, how she got the visa. You know, what was involved with her doing this? Shady? Disrepectfull of herself in getting this? Just my friend brought this up to me, and I never thought about this in talking with her. She does seem to be very nice.

HAHA Sculpto, very funny, and yet a good point. Dont know what I do if she was a Nut Job?  HAHA. Well, I do know this, NYC is an easy city to get lost in!! haha. Just kidding, wouldnt do that to her. She has a friend in CA, so maybe we would have to part ways by sending her off to see her friend or something. Dont know. But, in all our conversations, she seems very well mannered, and very reserved.

seriously business visas are not that hard to get.. especially if they include an invitation letter and some prior verifiable professional contact.

There is an American company in the Los Angeles area that I do business with... the first time I called them I noticed the Russian accent of the receptionist.. after I got to know them I asked the American production manager about it.. he told me they have a basically revolving door of Russian girls.. recent grads.. that come on the internship program.. usually 2-3 at a time and they stay for a year - 18 months..

If you look carefully.. there are actually Russians all over the place.. shoot.. 90% of the people on the plane home were Russians.. the four hot young girls sitting in the first row of coach certainly didn't look like business people or even work travel girls.. they were going to New York on vacation to PARTY!  (and shop)

It's a no brainer if you ask me! Agree with AJ and Sculpto. You will find answers to your questions when you are with her and it will be much more comfortable for her, not having to think about other FSU women you will be visiting if she comes to you.

You have provided a lot more important info now ,

and certainly i can't see any risk whatsoever..

i'm not even sure what the worry was about :)
(ok i get the *how* she got the visa worry, far better to not dwell over specualtion
and  to simply learn who she is in person, you have time ,no need to put the cart on front of the horse)

She has friends ,maybe connections ,here, she's been here before, so knows a bit about the culture, and ultimately regardless how she got her visa ,is INTERESTED in you.
all things that most men here would be very enthusiastic of  the opportunity.

IMHO you are/were way over thinking this .
(not a bad thing ,but dont let it screw up a great situation)

if the board pundits want more than what she has provided , they are expecting her to stand
on her head or something?

Quote
Also.. its a lot more interesting for her.. i mean to travel and come to you.

To a RW side of things it makes far more sense to visit you..
as ultimately if things pan out that is where she will be relocating to
(most of the time)
they are generally pragmatic ,this is kill two birds with one stone !
visit/see the man ,and the place /culture situation.
it makes common sense to do so if possible.

I know (in person) a UW disappointed that I had never invited her to visit me in the USA ,
felt  i wasn't serious about her over that ,and she would much prefer to visit here ,for the obvious reasons. We had to discuss the complicated situation of a UW getting a tourist visa.
While possible, it would be complex and unlikley to occur.
She really did not realize the level of difficulty in her particular situation, and had no reason to have ever looked into it ,or to know about it.
The assumption here that RW know the ins and outs of the visa process is greatly exaggerated ,certainly some do !
but equally some really have no idea, which is completely understandable!!!
Just like many americans have no clue of some random visa requirement for a given country.
unless they intended to travel there ,they simply have had no reason  to look into it.

I think you are WAY ahead to have her visit you here..and are fortunate to be  in that position.

well, jd, that's not too shabby really. For $690.00 you can actually get a perfectly good stranger to come across the globe and be your week long squeeze. Lot's of men will definitely jump at that prospect, you know...You should be so lucky!

I think JamesDH, another memeber here, actually had that happen to him (FSUW coming to him).

The bottom line is...if it's not a problem to you - why not just go there and get to know her better. Then if that works out great, then having her come to visit you in return is a slam dunk.

Have the two of you discussed and agreed that if there's no chemistry between you two she can just spend the rest of the time with her friend she knows in town and you'll be ok with that?

said she needed like 5k in the bank, car, to even get this..

This is the part that seems strange to me.  Are you sure it isn't some other kind of visa?  I think there is a 5 year multi entry visa (can't remember the designation) that some members have used for in-laws which had more requirements than a business visa.  I haven't researched any of this but just going by what I remember begin posted here in the past.

However, other than the visa, the common sense approach seems to be all that you need (oh baby, I am at the airport and they won't let me board the plane unless I have cash in my pocket, I hate to ask but I don't know what must I do... I want to come to you...blah blah blah send me $xxxx.xx by western union) Other than that my only concern would be that she wants to visit her friends in CA and wants a man to pay for the trip.. if she seems sincere to you and you're not telling that inner voice something like "shut up voice.. she's HOT" you should be OK.

Seems you have your head on straight... If she has a child, she's probably much more down to earth about life (though, there have been contrary examples). Where/how did you meet her? how old is she?

Met her on the site Singles Brides Agency, its been a pretty legit site I have found, hardly any scammers, mostly real women. She is 34 years old, VERY attractive, has a child,  very reserved. I wondered about her wanting to see her friend, and thought about thinking with my "other" head, because she is VERY attractive,  but her friends live in CA, and she is coming to NYC, then down to NC where I live. So, not sure how that would work out for her, if that was her true intentions,  she also said that whenever she visits her friends, they pay for her flight anyhow. So, I doubt thats the case. Even still, if it dont work out, im sure she will just fly to see them anyways, and im out $690 bucks, which I can easily live with that, no problem.

I may just be over thinking this thru, as was mentioned earlier. So, I went ahead and got the tickets, and send her the itinerary. Will see how this unfolds on September 9th!  haha. :o))

Good luck jdaco, sometimes you just have to roll the dice.  Nice she emailed you her passport as you requested but can you tell the difference between a phony and a genuine passport or visa?

Yes, wish you good fortune.
You can look at it this way....many guys have been very carefull and traveled to the FSU for a week or two trip, tickets/hotels/restaurants, etc. only to find out they had been scammed or there was just no chemistry, you will find out if it is either of these from the comfort of your home town and for less money.

Daveman, have you noticed the difference in prices between a refundable and non-refundable ticket?

jdaco good luck. I just wonder one thing... she has proven to have 5k in the bank but could not afford to pay $690 for a ticket that would be reimbursed ? Oh well.... let us know how it progresses.
