Russian Language Course from Princeton University
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:38:42 AM »
I just ran across this. It a whopper of a download at about 1.5G, but it appears to be a fairly comprehensive self study course compiled by a Princeton professor and based on the university classes.  It's a free download (well, it does 'require' an email to the author, but no program to register - the course(s) are in HTML, PDF and supplemental MP3 formats.  It looks pretty good.

Quite Welcome...

After more of a chance to get into the material, I must say, this series of lessons/courses is excellent.  If you're starting from point zero, just take your time.. if you're coming from the Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone, or some other intro material, it's a breeze to get going but then it will challenge you fairly quickly as the lessons progress.

I must say, I give this an absolute thumbs up.  It really is university quality (IMO of course -- comparing to my Spanish classes eons ago - but it would be nice to have some second or third opinions from those of you who have a good understanding of Russian...) It will take a while to complete but I'm really stoked to find this. It does appear to be exactly the kind of self study course I personally have been looking for.

Dave

LoL! Well, darn... and here I thought I had discovered something new! heh..  I always forget that our RWpedia even exists..  (BAD Dave!)

HOWEVER I'd still like to hear some opinions/reviews from anyone with enough Russian language knowledge to give a good critique...  It seems that this compilation from three quarters of university classes, with a considerable time and effort investment, would take one's proficiency well into the intermediate level.
