ukraine holiday season
« on: December 03, 2010, 05:02:52 PM »
im planning a trip just after 25 of december to 10 of january. I also just happened to find out that many of the girls in ukraine are visiting their parents towns and cities and will not be available for many of the dates i have mentioned. Have i booked a trip at the worst possible timing ? or is it just an excuse for some of the girls not to see me ? many of the girls are from dream-marriage.com and yes im wary of the scam  reputation.

thanks for your help in advance

Yes, one of the worst.  Orthodox Easter and the week or so after is also a bad time.

Not necessarily.  Most Ukrainians do go to visit family at that time.  In fact, it's so bad, we often can't even get phone calls through to Kyiv at that time.  My husband usually doesn't call his family until after New Year by the Julian calendar (January 14), and sometimes, he waits until after Epiphany.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

New Year is a time where many will spend time with their families, then on January 7th is Christmas. So yes you will discover most will want to spend time with their families and close friends.

If this is your first time to Ukraine it will still be good to get to see Ukraine and see how the land lies and get a true feel for the place.

As for Dream Marriage, well unless you know how to deal with agencies they can be quite a minefield. I will never forget some locals who said to me "Someone from an agency is more likely to be interested in finding a wealthy partner who will drain you of your cash, the more sincere girls do not use such places"

Where abouts in Ukraine are you planning to visit?
Its an opinion, don't get too crazy if you disagree :)

I've never been to Ukraine but my guess is, you'll do fine. Sure some will be out of pocket but many more likely to be available and the season is festive. Relax, go with the flow and enjoy yourself.

How old are you?  Do you have any dates already scheduled?

Suggest you try to schedule a few dates in advance.   After all, would you rather
have 3 ladies waiting to meet you when you step off the plane, or zero ladies waiting?

What's good is bad.  What's bad is good.  Winter is very cold,
but much fewer men there in the cold.  And fewer beggars on the streets.
The ladies may only have a few hours here or there available to meet you,
but that will give you more free time to chase more ladies.

What exactly is your fear that a scammer is going to do to you?
Visit several agencies, don't let one bad one ruin your trip.

I would say go.
See as much as possible.
Have a camera that will load up and shoot 200 or so pictures.
    Mainly...dress warm.

The best of times, the worst of times.....

It is a roll of the dice on whether a WOVO would be smart but if you are WMVM you should be fine. Just fill up your dance card.

The number who will be out-of-town visiting their families will be offset by those who have a bit more free time and less work pressure. They're in a festive, party mood and a bit more cheerful than normal so just set up some more contacts and go enjoy yourself during the Christmas season in another part of the world.

Their Christmas and New Year's are different but that's part of the adventure.
Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss

OP, if a woman wants to see you, she'll make the time.

I found just walking the streets in the dead of winter attracted plenty of attention and the ladies I had traveled to meet had plenty of time, even with 'family obligations'. When they were busy, my driver and I just took off and explored. Also, I saw the best of Ukrainian holiday spirit juxtaposed with the marked return to Ukrainian frugality once the holiday was over.

If it's your first trip, just go and have fun and don't worry about 'serious' things. Get a referral here on RWD to a reputable interpreter and/or guide and they will ensure you socializing to your heart's content.

As far as the ladies you're in current contact with, merely advise them of your particulars as to when/where you will be in-country and, if they are 'busy', simply express your regrets. You might be surprised how flexible busy can be once you're on the ground. Then it's up to you to discern whose worth *your* time and interest.

Good luck and, yes, dress warmly.
