I hope this is not a silly question but how do Asian guys or non-white guys do

Hello,

I am 100% Korean but grew up in the states. So you can say I am expat Korean living in USA. I notice that for Asian men we have harder time dating white women vs let say White men with Asian women .(This is whole topic of it's own.)



Growing up in America I had to deal with racism from white people and sometimes I think white American women wouldn't date me because of my race . I know the odds are against me even in Russia but heck you never know. Anyway, I hear stories of the far right wing movement in Russia .




Wondering if there is any other Asian guys here who can share their stories or maybe someone can help out. I like to try to meet someone in Russia (actually keeping my option open every where.) and just like to know how tough would it be?

Welcome to the Museum of Treach... er...eh...the asylum!

While I personally am not Asian I can say that from reading experiences on this forum that there are successes from various race groups/mixtures.

I would also say that your chances are excellent if you take your time and find/communicate with ladies truly interested in you. That's the same for any race group.  Ladies anywhere are keen to pick up on insecurities and if being Asian makes you feel insecure when approaching women of a different race, they'll pick up on it and you'll probably come across as less attractive (you're not "Asian", you're pretty much a bad ass guy who is confident that he deserves the woman of his dreams).

Let's face it, some women are not attracted to those of a different race... most Russian women are looking for Russian men, so that makes us all in a minority regardless of race. 

The point of all of this is -- be patient in your search and don't take race rejection seriously.. it's absolutely meaningless in the big picture - whether in your own country or abroad.  There are a number of Asian countries in the FSU, where the women all have primarily Asian features. If you're looking to find a "white" girl, then your search may be a little tougher than that of a "white" man, but certainly not impossible nor even improbable.  It's just about the numbers.. contact enough and you'll find many who are interested (and many who are not.. but that's also true for all of us).

Also remember that adventure is NOT a quick fix for relationship woes at home.

No one should sugar coat it... it is NOT going to be easy... but it is not easy for any of us.

There are women who will rule you out because of race... there are women who will not care either way.

There are women that would rule out a fat guy and others that won't.

There are women that will rule out a short guys... others who won't.

There are women who don't want to marry Americans... others who will.

I just hope you're not a short, fat, asian-American guy otherwise you'll be searching longer than Turbo (Who I think holds the record of 10 years in search mode before marrying).   

Dave makes some really important points in his post...this is not a quick fix for difficult relationships at home... and your attitude will define your success more than your appearance.

Russia is for 75% in Asia, it has quite a few Asian people living there, so you have as much chances as anyone else.

One of my girlfriends best friends is a Russian of Korean ancestory (I've met a few over the years).  I've met her friends brother and according to my girlfriend, he has no problems with the women.  

So the short answer is, it'll still not be as easy for you, especially in the big population centers of western Russia, but with a little persistance there is no reason you can't be successful.

When I was in Saint Petersburg I noticed people from all races it had a good mix of people just like the USA. With all the history of the world and all the wars that have been waged people are all mixed up, most places you travel to. I would not worry about it just meet some girls either they like you or they don't girls are always girls!

It's good you're are asking, however take that racism talk out of your head. That stigma isn't living in your society, it's in your head. You can't function normally if you carry the notion the society you're living in is prejudice towards you. So these misgivings and disadvantages you experienced in your life before were not because of you being Korean. They were mostly because of you thinking you're at a disadvantged because you're Korean.

For those racist out in the big wide world, it's their problem and you are not obligated to own up to it.

I lived here in the US most of my young to adult life and the only time I felt a sense of racism is when I interviewed with a counselor for entry to a University. I was told because I qualify as a minority that the University need people the likes of me. I was told they proudly have a program, financed by the Federal government, that will enable minorities like me to register in Universities relatively easier compared to an average, likely qualified by their own merits, white person. The admitting grade requirement for folks the likes of me is lower. The grading curve is lower - AND - they'll mostly pay for my education to boot.

Imagine that, eh? That's supposed to be a program of equality. LOL.

All I would have to do is sign in the dotted line accepting that *I am in fact inferior to everyone else because of my heritage*. Plan 'B' was certainly tougher. Be like everyone else but work 3 jobs to see me through. I can't get over the idea that a person like me who may have taken that slot will actually take away someone's spot who happened to have worked hard to earn the right and opportunity for better education simply because their skin color is white.

Russia - Russian women. Anecdotally, Korean men I've seen had done well with Russian women. I have a couple of friends of Korean descent married to Russian women. One have an incredibly gorgeous young son. He'll be a heartbreaker when he grows up. One of those Russian woman, along with my wife, even knows how to make Kim Chee. Pork belly - yum..we all get together once a week for Korean Bar-B-Q, man. Love the stuff.

Russians are very nationalist, at least the young ones. IMO, there's a difference. So if you ever get to Russia, be confident but don't be a fool either. You'll get your booty handed to you in a Moscow minute. There's never any sense walking in front of a firing squad. I was in St Pete 4 times before and had walked the street of SP alone at nights. I wasn't aware of the high nationalistic attitudes of the young males. I thought I was cool. Sometimes ignorance can be blissfully stupid, too, you know.

Your chances are far better in the eastern side of the continent. I've seen a lot of Korean men do well with women whether white meat, dark meat and everything in between.

Chanta you'll find Moscow and St. Pete to be more racist than the US.  There is also a very small chance that you might run afoul of some of the gangs of ultra nationalist Russians, skinheads etc who like to beat up Asians or Caucasians (people from the Caucasus region of Russia).  The gangs tend to operate around sporting events such as soccer matches and have been known to badly injure their victims.  The chances of this happening are very small.  Moscow isn't nearly as ethnically diverse as Los Angeles or New York but you do see some blacks and Asians on the streets of the city.  Some of the smaller towns and villages on the European side of Russia and Ukraine can be very white compared to the US. 

However once you cross into the Urals into Asian Russia the story changes.  Eastern Russia and the 'stans are far more ethically diverse than Moscow or St. Pete.  There are even a large number of ethnic Koreans in places such as Kazakhstan.

I agree with everyone here.  Go for it.  You have nothing to lose.  Lots of women don't care.  Some do.  Lots of guys only want a woman who looks like a cover girl but often the beauty queens come with some trade off's that might make others run as fast as they can.  Not ever woman will be interested.  Few of us appeal to every woman we write.  If you have a positive attitude, and make the effort you will find lots of good women will be interested.

So you got to think of this as a numbers game. Really all you have to
do is to write more letters than an identical guy who has rounder eyes
and paler (is that a word?) skin. Once you find a number of ladies that
are interested in you for who you are then it will be YOU that narrows
the field.

I'm Japanese/Chinese US born and living in Britain and I can say that you should go for it!  The lady I'm seeing now (from European Russia) said that she wanted a White/European guy in her profile and it was not an issue with us.  Same goes for the last one (Ukranian) I've dated.  So I concur with what everyone else has said, it is very much up to the individual and it is impossible to say that this woman will only date white guys, this one will only date Asian guys, this one is more open...  The only way to find out is to make an effort and ask.

Regarding your thoughts on dating for AMs in the US, it has been my experience that I see just as many Asian men with white women here in London that the WM/AF couples.  And I have heard that in Paris or rest of France, there are more AM/WF couples there.  But the other posters have a point, do not cast yourself as the victim of racism, that will only bring you down and women can sense your reduced confidence.  Besides, even if there is a disparity, it says nothing about you the individual.  Take care of your appearance, lift weights and break any negative stereotypes and you will be fine.
