K-1 Visa
« on: February 05, 2006, 06:09:30 AM »
It's not something I have to worry about any longer, but I think it would be of interest to the newbie to have current up-to-date information available regarding how long it takes to put through the paperwork for K-1 visas these days.  Everything I've seen lately is just guesstimation with numbers running from 3 months up to 9 months.

We have recently seem Goombah's Russian experience, but I don't recall seeing anything recent from Kiev.  Has anybody some concrete numbers for the current situation for Kiev?

I am in the process now! NOA1 received from CSC on 11/4/2005! Originally sent to TSC on 10/20/2005 it was forwarded to CSC due to TSC backlog! Some people who filed with CSC are still waiting since August 2005 for their NOA2.

So 90 days into the process and my case has not been touched yet! I will be more than happy to post updates as they happen so that we establish a current time frame. But every case is different and I am sure people going through TSC/CSC are going to be much longer than the ones filing with NSC or VSC. MAybe this will get more people to post there experiences.

If this post draws the attention and activity it warrants Dan may consider making it a sticky.

I have a reciept date of July 13th 2005 from the CSC.  Currently the file has not been approved and attempts at filing an out of process have failed. I am currently waiting for another out of process before contemplating more drastic measures.

From information I received on these forums, I was a little ahead of the curve. But my NOA-1 from the CSC was issued on 6/5/05 and the interview in Kiev was on 9/20/05. So it was 107 days from issue of NOA-1 to interview date.

Edited to add:

Right now the visa journey timeline stats page (for a K-1) is showing:

CSC NOA-1 to NOA-2: 61 days

Ukraine NOA-2 to Interview date: 73 days

This is probably not the best place to putting visa timelines because they can change on a dime. For example my buddy's  CSC  NOA1--->NOA2 was 12 days, and he had his girl here in less than 3 months!

This was last year.  But about 2 months later CSC decided to work on expediting AOS's and the K visa petitions started suffering.

I also wouldn't recommend using the VisaJourney calculated timelines because they are only as good as the data inputted and tend to lag begin current experiences.

If you really want to know the current ones, check out the various forums on VisaJourney.com and see what individuals are reporting.

I like that site quite abit. Some very good information there that is helpful. Although I noticed that some forms are out dated for the K visas.

I definately wouldn't use the visa journal timelines.

The CSC went through a period of time where they were stuck on the same week for almost 60 days.

From start to finish, it took us 6 months.  From February 2005 to August 2005, using the VSC. By far, the longest wait was for the interview date after our application got to the Moscow American consulate.

Ronin308,

I wouldn't rely on the email notification or the case status on the USCIS website for the CSC (Yes, I tortured myself daily) but in my case the processing date listed for the K-1  visa on the USCIS/CSC website seemed pretty accurate! They are currently posting a processing date of 11/3/05 and my NOA-1 was dated 11/4. It happened to work out for me.

Today, I received our NOA-2 through snail mail from CSC! Almost 3 months to the day and with in the time frame specified on my NOA-1! :)

There were no email notifications sent nor was the case updated on the USCIS website .

Bbernard, I'm happy for you but at over 7 months I've almost given up.  I can't imagine a more incompetent government agency.

As to the amount of time spent on 1 week, others verify the exact same thing as I, essentially nothing was processed for over a month.
