Ukraine as represented in American Culture
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:57:47 AM »
I am interested in ways you have noticed how Ukraine is represented in American culture.

Two movies where Ukraine is represented prominently are Everything is Illuminated and Lord of War.

What else is there?

Unless you stress the Ukraine (or Lithuania, or Georgia, or etc.) tie in, most people will not notice it.

I am continuously amazed how most people think: Soviet Union=ALL CIS countries=Russia; and inside Russia you have Moscow only--the rest is Siberia
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Just like NYC is all of NY state.
