Meeting Your Girlfriend/Fiancee In Another Country
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:23:49 PM »

We (my wife and I) are thinking about paying for a vacation for her 22 yo daughter, who seems seriously depressed over the absence of her Mom, work, and boyfriends. (Of course that could change before I finish posting this).

We intend to combine it with our vacation, and meet her some where in the Caribbean. We live in Florida and it is extremely easy and inexpensive for us.

In starting the research, I ran across this site. I know I have seen questions about this over the years- hopefully it will be helpful to others.

The easiest (logistics and money) trip in the Caribbean for us was Punta Cana, DR. I live in Florida as well so easy for me. FOr my fiance we had to pay a little more for a ticket bypassing the US (Odessa>Kiev>Paris>Punta Cana) and only traveling through one Schengen country. Tricky to find flights that do not route through Miami or NY to the Caribbean we found.

We looked at Jamaica and Mexico, but too tricky and pricey. Barbados I think was an option as well.

Mark,

Some of those places are not easy for Americans.   I met a RW in Laos and Vietnam and I had to obtain a visa before I departed.   If you are not risk averse, Cuba is a good choice (Aeroflot has a non-stop flight).

The least expensive is Punta Cana.  Many Russians go there, and all-inclusive travel packages are inexpensive.  Your stepdaughter may procure the hotel with her air tix, and you/wifey pay  for land only package.  American Airlines will fly you from Florida in a snap.   I have been told that there are charters from Siberia, competing for the Russians tired of Thailand.

Costa Rica is a great trip, and while RW need a visa, it is not a hassle.
