Helping Out a Newbie
« on: June 21, 2011, 12:57:42 PM »
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to inform a newbie on RUA about social media and information sites (including here), but apparently the good ole mods at RUA don't like my suggestions, so they removed my post quickly and blocked my PMs.  :D
Can anyone here who uses RUA help me out? I'm mostly trying to give this guy a list of social sites he can use before the RUA propaganda machine gets to him.  ::)

I'd love to help you but he already hate my guts. Something about self-esteem I believe. I mean, who would NOT like to have a hot chick?

If you have to get to him before the BS brigade (they exist on any site and I'm not aiming at any site in particular)  in order to get through his head then you won't be able to help him anyway. The BS brigade will pervade this thinking because he doesn't have much ability to do just that, think.

The guy with an ounce of nous will see the better advice and suggestions eventually whether them come loudest, quietest, first, last or somewhere along the way.

jooky, don't think I can help.

I had posted information about our 15th annual get together here on RWD in April. manny wrote me by pm and asked if I was going to post the information about the get together on rua and I said sure.  So I did.  Well, one of the guys from rua wrote me a pm asking me about the get together and wanting to know a little more information.  When I replied back to his pm I sent him my email address and told him to write me there.

I never heard back from the guy.  Oh well, he changed his mind.  Then this guy tracked me down thru my website, or some how, and told me he could not contact me, my email to him had been deleted.  So I went on to rua and checked my pm message to this guy and sure enough it was written  "email removed for spamming".

That's not exactly the WHOLE story Jookey.

You failed to mention that you dropped the link for this site AND and said the opinions at RWD were "better" than those on RUA.  You then encouraged the new RUA member to contact you privately so you could pass on the same information about RWD that had been previously deleted.

I don't believe the Moderators or Admin of RWD would have acted any differently if a RUA member would have conducted him/herself in the same manner on RWD.

For the record, your original post has been restored with an edit of the offending passage.

I do.  Members here have in the past linked threads in RUA, and Eduard used to mention RUA, with no moderation.  Were someone to state RUA is a better forum, members would voice their opinions, yea or nay.  I doubt any moderator would delete that.

This is not about cross site links.

Nobody will permit a member to attempt to openly solicit a new member to another forum. I doubt I would get away with that here would I?

For Jooky to request members here spam an RUA member is clearly not cricket. RWD should not be used as a tool to encourage this behaviour. I am doubtful that Dan would support RWD being used for this behaviour.

Jooky is merely causing trouble for reasons best known to himself.

Read my post above, Shakes. I state that I 'dropped a link' to here. As far as I knew, RUA and RWD allowed for crosslinks now. No?

The advice is better here. People here do voice their opinions against against bogus advice and criticize the mods, and that's not deleted. No, I don't think my post would have been removed entirely here as you did. It wasn't antagonistic and it wasn't 'spam'.

The way I see it, the guy seeks advice and that advice is better obtained here. So I posted a link in addition to useful links (which are in very much in line with what that guy is looking for).

Thanks for restoring my post anyways. You should send that guy over here where he can get more solid info.

Manny... stop your paranoia. My reasons are the usual. I'm browsing these boards to kill some time today and I saw an opportunity to pass along some info. The links I provided I'm sure are what he's looking for and the guy would get better info here. That's all.

All said and done...why does the newbie not just go ahead and join RWD firsthand?

I may have to start taking meds. I clicked on olyaaa's profile and it says it doesn't exist? Next thing they will tell me is Osama Bin Ladin is dead and wears cement overshoes and sleeps with the fish.

By regular members, who seek to be helpful and constructive, when the subject linked to is relevant. Not on a guys introduction thread with the sole intent to spam him for a site in general. Nice try, but no cigar for you today. No site will allow ousted ex staff members who have proved themselves to be disingenuous in the past to pull stunts like that.

The advice is better here.

I think you will see that the comprehensive advice the guy received is just fine and he is quite happy with it.

I'm browsing these boards to kill some time today

You were trouble causing, as you do once or twice a year for your own amusement. You got busted. Having been busted, you sought sympathy here. Most members reading this will not know of your history at RUA, or your exit in flames some time ago. But, for those who do, it is clear that the action was entirely appropriate in the circumstances.

If you think encouraging members here to spam RUA on your behalf and for your amusement is acceptable behaviour, I suggest that you, once again, need to reset your compass.

...

Agreed.  I don't pretend to know Jooky's motive or have any knowledge of the situation in question, but what occurs on another forum is outside the RWD sphere of influence or even relevance.  They run the forum there as they see fit as do we here.

Also, RWD is not intended to be a platform to air grievances against other forums.  Occasionally, some members do mention experiences elsewhere, and those are allowed to stand within the context of discussion if not equating to a diatribe.  I see no diatribe here, so the thread can remain for now.  However, I would dissuade anyone from posting a public call here for assistance at another forum in the future (which serves to be divisive to the nascent spirit of cooperation which has been realized between RWD and other forums).

I think most would agree with what you have written SuperDave.

I don't pretend to know Jooky's motive or have any knowledge of the situation in question,

I'll try to shed a little light on the subject for you.

I believe Jooky got a little upset when he tried to help a new person and his advise was censored or deleted at the time.  If I read correctly above Jooky's advise/help may have been put back.

Jooky is one of the most knowledgeable individuals on these Russian discussion boards with many aspects to the pursuit for a Russian bride.  Jooky does not mind speaking his peace and does not follow the "parties" line and as such is often at odd's with other expressed party members opinions.  More times than not Jooky is correct.

SuperDave I think Jooky's actions/motive was one of him throwing his hands in the air and saying "ok, I need help with trying to get my deleted statements/opinions/advise to this new guy and don't know what else to do".   So he came here knowing a lot of guys here are also there and maybe one of these guys here could get his info to the newby.

Jack gets it. Manny, as usual is delusional and paranoid. (And disingenuous, coming from Manny, that's a good one. Have I been known to mislead anyone on these boards for my own personal gain? Nope. Can't say that about some of the regulars 'elsewhere').
If my post would have been edited, rather than deleted and my PMs hadn't been blocked (the guy PMed me so clearly wanted to hear what I had to say) no problems here.

If my post would have been edited, rather than deleted

Your post was removed for review. It was shortly after reinstated sans spam.

and my PMs hadn't been blocked

Your PM's were blocked because when your public spamming was immediately removed, you reposted offering the same by PM. In other words, you sought to covertly bypass a perfectly routine, normal and correct moderators action.

Which sections of the TOS didn't you grasp Jooky? Several cover your actions:

Quote
5(n) disseminate off-topic messages on boards promoting any product, service, web site, board or venture, or promote boards on the Service through unsolicited electronic mail messages to third parties;
5(p) use the Service as a promotional tool, for excessive or inappropriate linking to third party sites, or as a search engine optimization tool.
5(r) use the private message facility we offer to solicit business for unconnected companies or entities.
5(s) link unecessarily within posts to third party services that this forum and/or its owners provide.

You only appear at RUA occasionally to cause trouble and argue Jooky. A members profile and history in that regard is quite properly weighed against any link posted that might have been done for less than altruistic reasons. A decision is taken to allow or remove that link. In your case, and in those circumstances, it was quite properly removed.

There is no "paranoia" or "delusion" here. As stated already, you tried to pull a stunt, got busted, and are here seeking sympathy. Only Jack is supporting you because nobody else really cares. Forum wars left RUA about the same time you did. Ask yourself why. Issues over cross board links were long ago resolved by Dan and I. Neither of have an issue with them as long as they are relevant, on topic and not excessive. What you are doing is attempting to stoke long dead fires that will not rekindle despite how hard you might blow them.

Jooky, you are disrespecting RWD as a venue for even starting this topic. It shows how petty minded you can be. Grow up man. Apologise to the people here for your behaviour.

You need to look up the definition of spam....

The guy asked for advice. I gave it to him. It's not against your precious ToS and I certainly wasn't soliciting anything. That implies I have something to gain, which I don't. My post was was on topic and not excessive. You simply don't like my opinion that better advice can be found here, which I believe is true.

Not true. You're still having 'forum wars' with others. You patched things up here for material gain, long after I stopped posting over there.

If calling your sad boy Andrew out on his misleading bs is 'causing trouble', than so be it. In that case I'm proud of being a 'trouble maker'. I'm here to help others out, not profit from deception. Too bad you let him get away with it. What was his latest bs? How HRB provides face to face contact unlike other sites? Are you proud of the misleading info your board propogates?

Your delusion is that I'd bother to stir up trouble. I occasionally drop into these forums and will only post if I think someone will benefit from it, whether that is posting links or fighting bs.

Grow up man.
You need to follow your own advice.
