W.E.B. Griffin the author of many adventure books most regarding the
military decides to involve a character named Svetlana Alekseeva, who
is a Russian KGB agent who defects because of some kind of internal
politics regarding Saddams oil for food program.
The hero of the adventure book is named Colonel Charlie Castillo decides
to give her a "pet name" and everyone in the book calls her by this pet
name from that point on and Svetlana Alekseeva happily answers to it.
What was the pet name ???
SvetlAna, SvEta, SvEtochka, SvetlAnka, SvEtik ??
Any of those names would have been considered a term of endearment by
a sexy Russian spy girl. However Colonel Charlie Castillo decided to call her
Either SWEAT or SWEATY for the rest of the book !!!! others called her the
same!
There is no way on Gods green Earth that this would have been allowed by
a FSUW who was fluent in English and knew what sweat was. I cringed every
single time I read it.
This is the second book where "Sweaty" had this nickname, I can't believe that
he wasn't inundated with corrections. I sent him an email, but I can't believe that
he didn't get a thousand of them.
