What would be the book or movie to recommend to a woman from FSU to get Americans.  Even more unknown what might she recommend to me to better understand women from
FSU?

If you're seeking a relationship with women from big cities I believe "Moscow's Sex and the City" would be a pretty good documentary to watch for a start.

This and a few other shows have been adopted in Russia and are wildly popular. Popular US 80s shows made their way to Russian TV and the Russians are now watching "Sally Jessy Raphael", "Who's the boss", "Nanny", "Married with children" with Russian actors playing the parts but you will recognise the set, furniture, house layout, hairstyles, etc. right away.

From my own, personal experience I can safely say that it took me about 10 years of living in the USA, being married to an AW to start fully understanding and appreciating American humor and other cultural nuances. The fact that I spoke very good English when I got here helped a lot as well.
We get cues to what's supposed to be funny from the time when we are babies, from our parents, watching cartoons, movies, reading books, etc.
Without having this life experience since ones childhood it will take an effort to understand each others humor and truly "get" each others culture. It's possible if the desire is there and it all has to start with becoming fluent in the language of the culture you are trying to "get".

I'm afraid you underestimate the breadth of my knowledge on the subject matter.  :)
Players are invariably easy to spot -  a maximum of 30 seconds is all that is required for me.  And on the Internet they show their true character very quickly if you chat with them in a friendly and kind way.
Fortunately the vast majority of them have brains the size of chicken eggs, in my opinion, of course.  :D

Thank you indeed for playing with me and for the link provided - surely it will be useful for some newbies.

P.S.
Considering that JR kept the ball rolling  ;D, I feel confident that he is the one who is able to read between the lines and he has developed sense of humor!!! IMHO.
