Greetings from Sverige!
« on: December 03, 2011, 01:28:59 AM »
Hello! My name is Jeff and I hail from New Zealand, now a permanent expat living in Sweden. A little background...

I first became interested in RW about 10 years ago and in particular Siberia. I'd met a few nice Siberian ladies over the internet, mainly in the Far East, and had even gone as far as taking Russian language lessons and planning my first trip.

Back then I lived in NZ and there were scant few Russian language courses available so I advertized in a local rag and by chance a genuine RW lived around the corner, having recently married her NZM! Well she turned out to be a wealth of information and encouragement.

So, I'd planned a trip but not to see one particular women (I hadn't really made any deep connections), but I thought I'd go to Russia as a tourist first, get a feel for the people and see what eventuated. Part of this trip lead me through Thailand, then China, then onto Vladivostok and the Trans Siberian. Long story short - I never made it China...

In Thailand I met a FW... a Scandinavian beauty to boot... cutting an even longer story short I ended up marrying her and moving to Sweden where I have pretty much been for the last 7 years. About two years ago things started to go seriously tits up and a year ago we separated, divorce is now a formality. We're still good friends and have one child. I have no regrets and wish her all the best in life.

What this did teach me is that moving to a new country, learning a new culture, language and everything it entails is a massive undertaking - it's tough, sometimes lonely and often frustrating. I have a lot of empathy for the what RW must go through when moving westward, its got to be even tougher.

So, here I am single again and eyes gazing to the East once again... and people lets not descend rapidly into "Swedish women are XYZ, why are you looking at RW etc etc...", reality is they (SW) are just like women anywhere, no more beautiful or desirable, and no the entire population is not blonde.

I have always been attracted to eastern block women and that's where I am looking once again, all these years later.

I joined a couple of sites and after a few months found A. A and I have been emailing and chatting for a few months. I spoken a LOT of others and whittled it down to just her for now. I'm pretty down with the usual crap to avoid (scammers and so fourth), I work in IT and quite up with these sorts of things. I've also been married twice, both times to FW, looks like I'm going for third time lucky.

All things going to plan I should be on a plane in early March heading for Siberia. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes :)

Welcome Jeff,

As an expat for almost 50 years I hear ya regarding regarding immigration difficulties, and I'm only 51 LOL.  BTDT quite a few times.

Enjoy dating in RU!

Thanks for the welcome guys, really appreciate it. Right now I am really enjoying reading the trip reports and various other forums, lots of great stuff here.

This was supposed to be posted in Introductions, but some how I ended up posting it in the wrong forum, wondering if one of the mods could move it over?

Jeff, been there too so you have my understanding.
