Ukraine to build completely new tourist city in Crimea
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:01:25 PM »
I work with an investment company that has been recommending this (tourism development in Crimea) to the various governments for the past 10 years.

Good to see that something might finally get started.

Still major problems:

1) training people to be customer oriented.

2) Corruption everywhere and at all levels in Ukraine.

Ukraine is number 134 where 1 is least corrupt.  Russia is 154.

"In the next three and a half years, essentially, a completely new tourist city will emerge near Yevpatoria," stated the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov after the conference Inside Ukraine, organized by The Economist in London. The minister said that the development will ensue within the national program to modernize the Crimean peninsula into an attractive tourist destination.

Good luck with that.

Just keep it away from beautiful Alupka.

It's so relevant when you mention customer service. When I visited the "Fan Club", a new cafe in Donetsk (EURO 2012), every table had a reserved sign. But for fifty rph, we got one anyways. The place reminded me of a mob restaurant in Mulberry St., NYC, with surly dudes occupying tables hunched over smoking Hookah pipes.

Ukraine in many respects has a long way to go in customer service.

:offtopic:   Given that England are to play 2 matches in Donetsk for EURO 2012, I expect the locals to have a severe reality check regarding customer service, or there will be trouble.  There'll probably be some anyway.

The fact that Donetsk was founded by a Welshman won't help either.  Wales is another country when it comes to football!
