Just as a brief update, I've been on EM for two months now and I'm satisfied with the service. Given the subject of this forum, I should note that not a single woman I have corresponded with through the site has asked me for money. Obviously, I'm not suggesting that there are no scammers on EM -- I'm sure there are -- only that none of them have made themselves known to me yet.  ;)

My only complaint about the service is frankly something I should have considered before starting this process: EM lists women from all over the FSU and Eastern Europe, so it is perhaps not as conducive to a WMVM approach as a city- or region-specific site. My first trip (in less than two weeks!) has become a WMVO roll-of-the-dice as a result.

Oh, and we're meeting in Rome. My only backup plan is, you know, Italy. It's not as bad as it sounds -- she's paying for her flight from Moscow and her own hotel room -- but it's bad enough that I figured I would hide this news here rather than place it someplace where other impressionable newbies might find it...

Pity it's not Milan, I could have offered you a drink ;).

Maybe an prying question due to personal interest (and you can use a PM to answer, rather than here) : you said you've been on EM for 2 months and she's coming to Rome. I was under the impression than getting a visa from an Italian Consulate was a longish affair. Any info you can share on the procedure she followed ?

Hey Sandro, hop a train and come down to Rome. Alternatively, if all goes well, we're also spending a week on Capri. I've heard the drinks are horrendously overpriced there, so you can buy.  ;D

As for the visa, I've not asked the details. She has traveled in Western Europe on several occasions, so it may have been easier for her than it would otherwise have been. If I find out anything of use, I will pass it along.

A 6-hour train ride to buy you a drink ? What do you think you are, an FSUW hotty ;D ?

Add another 2 hours for the train, then at least 30 minutes by ferry. No way. You'd better stock up with booze in Naples, and carry it over. Would not recommend the 12-year malt whiskey selling for $2 a bottle there, though lovingly home-made ;D. Better stick to the supermarket varieties.

That probably explains it. Thanks.

But Sandro, we should be together. Go to Western Union and send me $1,000 (or whatever that is in Euros these days...about 4, I think) and I will come to you.  :-*

Mmm...Italian moonshine. I will have to try some. How dangerous is it on the "Tastes like gasoline" to "Causes blindness" scale?

The Rome-Milan train ticket is MUCH less than $1,000 ! I think you're trying to build yourself a dacha out of my goodwill >:(.

You don't want to know. I would suggest you to try grappa, if you never did : not as mellow as whisky,  cognac or aged rhum, but it packs 45° of alcohol and is much cheaper (made from what's left of grapes after pressing them for wine). Alla salute !

Guys:  I have corresponded with Elena's site ever since she was in S. Africa and then back in Russia and now in Australia. Apparently she had married and divorced several men and moved her agency with her. She is honest as she immediately removed a new lady who was a scammer. I had sent her the documents to prove it. I will not use her site for other reasons, though.
              just my 2 cents.

That's interesting, she claims in her advertising for her eBook that she's been married happily to the same guy for 7 years...

E.Harmony  is a phucking  joke .
They  string you along   by giving you 3-4  matches a month .
THAT IS A RIP OFF IF THERE EVER WAS ONE  .
I tried to get calnnel 12 news to report on them , but no luck , I mean to expose them as ripoffs  and they are

I am not in a relationship now. Frankly, I am tired of internet search.

I had experience with elenasmodels too. I met 2 men and was disappointed.

The first English man visited Kiev and had good time there at my expense. I mean I paid for many things instead him. It was the last case of my sincere hospitality. :D

The next English man said me after we met in Kiev he is MARRIED. He said he had divorce but something happened with legality of his divorce, he had no idea about it... I decided I can be patient with his divorce and I will be waiting for it. But events of the next months gave me a notice the man has a lot of psychological problems and I am not ready to share my life with this kind of man. And maybe his story about might-have-beed divorce is egregious lie! As you know, I had already experience with married man and I am not sure I am ready for new trauma. Elenasmodels agency gives promise to women to check men. But the only control is PAYMENT. Men pay and nothing else matters. I can understand it. The agency does business.

I used americansingles too. And I was not delighted with it. I had a lot of cases when sick men contacted to me. I am not against nice talk via instant messenger but I don't like when men say me they are going to lick my body and tell about their sex preferences. In my opinion, it is very private topics to discuss it with the first comer.

I use eHarmony now. But all I have is several new friends. :) I think western men who use eHarmony look for local ladies but not for women from FSU. And maybe no-one Russian or Ukrainian man uses it.

El Rock,

I would not say that eharmony is a joke.  If one takes them at their word, that the really use the personality profile to match up people, then it depends on how many women are joining each month that match you.  If 100 women in my area join today, but only one matches me, then I get one match.  Could it be possible that they spread some of these matches out over a week or two?  Maybe, but I doubt it.

In terms of meeting American women, I have met fewer women through eharmony than other sites such as match.com or american singles, but those relationships have usually had more dates.

As far as women in the FSU, I set my matching criteria to include countries in the FSU.  I have only had one match, and she chose not to communicate.  So I suppose that few RW/UW's are using the site.  After all, it costs $30 or more a month, and you have to answer a couple hundred personality questions, which for many would require decent English skills or the assistance of an interpreter.
