March 8th, Woman's Day
« on: March 02, 2006, 04:55:49 AM »
Just wanted to remind you all about Woman's Day & not to forget to send flowers or a small gift to your ladies if your looking or to give to your wives if your already married.

We at  www.tverangels.com are gearing up & taking orders for Tver Ladies & so far it looks like a very busy day for us. Didn't realize there were so many guys with ladies in Tver but it is a very pleasant surprise.

To all the ladies on the board & to the wives of all the guys we extend our congrats for a very pleasant & happy Woman's day!!!

It was told to me from a RW, "forget Valentines day.  But if you forget Womans day your lady will never forgive you."

YES! It is a big thing, you should not forget about the holiday even if you do not know a girl you are communicating with that well. As for flowers - tulips would probably work much better then roses :)

Julie,

Hello, and welcome to RWD! It is nice to see the experience and perspective of another Russian woman join us! :clapping:

Why do you say tulips may be better? I thought red roses were the essential choice for Woman's Day?

well, thank you for the warm greeting! happy to be here as well. To answer your question - I think girls kind of get tired getting roses all winter and then in the spring too. Tulips just seem to be more of a fresh idea. But it has to be a whole bunch of tulips :P Besides, diversity is always great, right? Tulips are concidered to be a symbol of spring....
Just my humble opinion

I like tulpis too. :) It could be very nice to get a large bouquet of multicolored tulpis!

Ms. Dragonfly (стрекоза,) Elen and Julie,

Lilya prefers red roses, so that is what she will get on Wednesday.

Receiving flowers for holidays is fairly predictable, virtually  expected. It is when they are given on ordinary days that I believe  Lilya enjoys them the most, and so I look forward to her reaction to  mimosa (my Grandmother's favorite, I was told by my Mom) and  multicolored tulips. Thank you all for the suggestions.

My ex-husband presented me several bouquets of different flowers for 8th of March. :) I think Lilya will be happy to get different flowers. Why not?

Hey girls, I think this message board was not meant for us to say what flowers we would like to get on Women's Day. I think it was more of a reminder to GUYS about the holiday, that's all

Any way, guys - good luck with choosing the right flowers for your girls. But you know what they say here - it is not always A GIFT itself that metters, it is the fact that someone cared enough to get you that gift, no matter what it is

Happy Women's Day to all girls and ladies who are members of this forum!

Julie, thank you for congratulation! Happy Women's day to you and to Elen too. :)

Yes, it is not always a gift itself that matters. And you are correct about these posts are reminder to guys about the holiday. But in any case we can give to guys an idea what kind of flowers our women consider as traditional SPRING flowers. :)

Yes this thread is not about what flowers they should send to their girls but about to give them an idea what EXACTLY this holiday is about.
By my last year experience of explanation them an idea of this holiday truth tell they understood little

С праздником девушки :D , у которых хватает терпения просвещать мужчин, которые здесь обитают.

My wife does not want flowers because they die. Any other suggestions? I am ready to put money in an envelope.

My getting aquainted with Russian culture has been a series of hit and miss.  I've learned the hard way, I'd better not miss woman's day.  Thankfully, I've already covered that base this week.  My Odessa lovely is getting a nice big fruit basket, and sweet bread.  She got tired of me always sending chocolate.

It is because you give flower who are already dead... why not give some plant in jar... by example, some mini rose :

Hibiscus are beautiful too...

I have bad news for you Clyde, husbands die too.   Of course if they put the husband in a pot and pour water over him it will speed things up.

Ken,  That was a nice thought.  You are a good guy and your wife is lucky, you are too.  Don't let her put you in a pot and pour water over her head.  Darn, I am sure the only thing I have been drinking today is coffee.

Olga got a boquet of mixed flowers and a fruit and cheese basket.

She also got an e-card from me, which really makes a difference, even though it is free.
