Apartment referrals for St Petersburg
« on: February 06, 2012, 04:26:31 PM »
Looking for a nice, clean and well located (Nevsky Prospect) apartment rental - reasonably priced would be good also.

I have contacted http://www.oksanas.net, anyone used their services before?
My search was going so well, then life intervened... but I'm back!

Provisionally March 23rd to 30th (7 nights).

Just adding that I am quite flexible, so some days either side are fine, even the preceding week would be fine.

Jeff,

I was in St. Piter over New Year's.  I rented an apartment through these people:

www.apartment-rentals-russia.com

They kept their promises and we had no problems.  They have several flats and we stayed in 150-yo building near the Astoria Hotel, St. Issac's Cathedral and the Hermitage.
Wide choice of good restaurants within a few minutes walk.  The best restaurant: considering price was Teplo (need to call one week ahead).  Other good ones are Zoom (reasonable price) and Receptoria (expensive but superb Italian).  Must not forget the Indian restaurant Tandoor.  And even a deecnt Pizza Hut.  There were others, many others.

Thanks Gator, that's some good info about the restaurants. I definitely want to stay in this downtown area, just for the ease of eating out and getting to the big attractions. Cheers, and I'll be checking out those apartments.

My first trip to Piter I used this lady for apartment and airport transfer, I rented the apartment with the deer horns over the fireplace. Apartment was on Italianskya, one block off Nevsky and perfect. She did a good job and I never even met her

Except that it doesn't seem to offer much in the way of Italian food, much less Sicilian :-\.

I have no idea what this refers to:
"и в каждом блюде заключен маленьий кусочек столь любимой всеми солнечной Италии."
which Google translates to:
"and each dish is concluded Malin piece so beloved by all sunny Italy."

What is that Malin we're supposed to be in love with?

A couple of typical Sicilian first courses, unmentioned there:

Pasta con le sarde (pasta with sardines), Pasta alla Norma (pasta with eggplants, tomatoes, basil and ricotta)

P.S.: Correction, looking at their photo menu, they seem to offer Pasta alla Norma, as well as Cannoli, so something Sicilian is there.

I don't know what happened to my link but, it wasn't Oksana's although she's probably great too. mine was this one http://www.introbyirina.com/

I never met the lady but she told me at first contact I probably wouldn't (unless something went wrong). She did the invitation, transfer to/fro the airport and the apartment. All flawlessly without a single hitch
