Hi everyone,my name is Randy.I am new to the site but not new to Russia and her women.

I was wondering if anyone here has been to Volgograd or Volzhsky before. I am trying to find out all I can on this area of Russia.

Also is there anyone working in the FSU as an ESL teacher.I would also like to find out info on this.

Thank you,

Randy;)

Hi Randy,

I have been to Volgograd/Volzhsky twice. I would have never thought of going there except that I started correspondence with a VERY beautiful girl from Volzhsky in June 2004. Found her on an agency website and we wrote many letters and I decided to come see her in person in October.

I used Anastasya agency in Volzhsky for everything, they arranged my invitation, visa, airport pick up, apartment, translator, and driver during my stay. price was pretty good, and I recommend it for first timers, but once you have some experience you can manage on your own and save a lot of money.

What can I say about Volgograd/Volzhsky? Well, the women are amazing, beautiful model types everywhere you look, but I had my own beauty to concentrate on, but many times I wished I had not just come for ONE girl, leave your options open, because as I found out letters and the 'real life' meeting are very different things, and I had many problems with this girl (another story)

Volgograd is a big city, much to see, Maemav Kurgan is famous place, there is a huge statue there of a woman holding a sword. All over the city are statues and memorials dedicated to the victory over Germany during WW2, Stalingrad (former name) was a historical turning point of the war, and Russia is VERY proud of this. Remember the movie "Enemy at the Gates"? You should watch it again and get an idea of what they had to endure during the seige by the Germans.

Volzhsky is really a suburb of Volgograd, but you won't see any little houses with white picket fences, just more tall apartment buildings, block after block. They do have a lot of trees in Volzhsky (try to mask the pollution) I have a soft spot for this city because it was my first destination, and the girl of my dreams was living there, but really there isn't much to see. There is a couple good restaurants, IL Faro is a nice Italian restaurant, Elvis club is a slice of Americana in Russia, very nice place. Lenin Square is a nice place to hang out on a sunny day, lots of devushkas walking, sitting, and drinking with friends.

What else do you want to know? Just ask, I will be happy to help. are you corresponding with a girl from there?  - David (Calif.)

Hi David ( jinx13 ),thanks for the reply and info.Yes I am corresponding with a girl from there.I have been to Russia twice before but was in Moscow. The first girl that I met in Moscow lived in Volzhsky, she was a tall beauty.

Now I have found another lady from there.I am really planning on trying to move there and be an ESL teacher. Not just for the girl,if it works inbetween me and her that is great.I need a change from this so called free country I live in and thought Volzhsky/Volgograd would be great since my friend lives there. Also it is not as expencive as Moscow.

Hi Randy,

No problem, I am glad to help. I was just in Volzhsky again this past summer, a girl I met took me on a walking tour of the city, we walked for 4 hours! Russian women love to walk, but really I was glad we did it, even though it was at night and a little scary (drunk Russian guys) but i got to see much of the city that I didn't see the first time. Volzhsky is small, but has some charm.

Having said that, truthfully I could never live there. The pollution is really bad, my eyes were even watering, the smell of burning leaves is what I remember the most about this place, well ok maybe I remember the girls more, so it's a double edge sword. I have thought of living there too, but for purely selfish reasons, to date beautiful Russian girls and live like a king, i'm more than a little jealous of how good the men have it over there. The women aren't as spoiled as the Moscow girls, and there really are too many beauties to count, it's like heaven for men, but could you really live in Russia and the sub-standard conditions? not to mention the cold Russian winter, well you are from Canada so maybe that doesn't bother you, but i'm a California boy, I would freeze my ass off.

some links for you to check out www.anastasya.com , and also http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SeekingVolgogradWomen/

Hey Randy I just noticed from your profile that we are the same age and birthdays are nearly the same too, mine is 4/22/68  Let me know how everything goes, and if you have more questions just let me know.  - Dave

Hey David,great reply.

LMAO,good one.

Since you were just recently there,I have a question about money. What are the cost of items there, food ( supermarket, restarunt),clothing, and any thing else you might know of?

I think I could handle the winter,I live in Northren Ontario. If you take a globe and see where I live,Timmins Ontario, you can make a strait line right around the globe and guess what city you will hit.......Volgograd.Kind of funny I thought.

Thanks Dave

Thats interesting. I used to live in Calgary and it's pretty close to the same lattitude as my wife's city of Omsk.

Prices in Volgograd/Volzhsky are MUCH cheaper than Moscow, I'm sure you were as surprised as I was the first time you went to Moscow and realized the prices either compare or are higher than North America.

You can get a beer for 30-40 rubles in Volzhsky, I remember that much :), restaurant prices aren't bad, but of course it's much cheaper to go to a market and stock up there. I honestly can't remember prices very well, and I also went to Ukraine on my last trip so that makes it even more confusing, but Ukraine money conversion is much easier, 5 grievna = $1, Russian I think is like 22 rubles = $1

I bought a nice coat in Volzhsky for about 400 rubles, I think that was a very good price. Apartments are pretty cheap to rent, i paid $35 a night, but monthly rates are probably even better. Are you looking to stay in Volgograd or Volzhsky? Probably would be more exciting to live in Volgograd, it's a big city with shopping malls, cinema's, bowling, and many dance clubs, Volzhsky has some of this too, but really the whole town shuts down at night, pretty quiet, but maybe thats what you want.

Do you plan on supplementing your income from Canada, or maybe using your personal savings, or do you think teaching will pay your way there? I wouldn't want to try and live on your earnings you make there, and Russian women won't be impressed by it either I don't think. If I ever moved there I would probably start some kind of business, but thats just me.

How old is this woman you are corresponding with? I made the mistake of dating a young one from Volzhsky (19)  nice to look at, but she didn't have a clue, and changed her mind constantly. The young ones are ok if you are just looking to have some fun, but if you are serious about finding a marriage minded woman, try the 22-30 age range, just my personal experience speaking, but damn there are some HOT 18-21 year olds everywhere! Makes you understand why these Russian guys can't stay faithful, I'm a one woman kind of guy, but wow there is temptation all around :P keep your options open if you do move there, I don't think you would be disappointed.  - Dave

Hi David, yes I found everything in Moscow to be just as expencive or more than here. There were some things cheaper, but on a whole Moscow is expencive.

I was looking at staying in Volzhsky,as I am from a very small city,I am not use to the really big ones.I like the peacefulness of a smaller place.

I am hoping the teaching will pay my way there, maybe a little tutoring on the side. Some of the schools pay for the apartment, plus the wadge. That would make things much easier right away.

I was just talking to my friend from there, she was telling me that she only makes about $275 US a month, and has an ok life.No car or the fancy things we as westrners have become acustom to,but she is happy and comfortable.

My friend is a 41 y.o. beauty.Yes she is a little older than I am,38 in April. But at this point in my life I did not want to have any more children as my daughter is now 18 and I did not want to start over.My friends daughter is 20 and has already moved out,my friend also dose not want to have more children,so it is perfect.

You mentioned you would start some kind of buisness if you were to move there, what kind do you think would work good there?

Thanks

Randy

Randy,

If you are not too hooked up on that exact city, may be you should come to Omsk? I have helped one of my American friends get a contract with a local university and he has been teaching English and living her for the last 2 years. In about 6 months after coming here he met up with a local band and started singing with them. Now he is a star here - both for his students and for musical world :clapping:

Hi Julie, thank you for the offer, but at this time I am kind of hung up on the Volgograd area as my friend lives there.

If things happen to change,I will keep you in mind, that is if the offer would still be open.

Sounds like your friend is having a great time, getting to teach and be in a band.I do not think I would be doing this any time soon if you heard me sing...LOL,I sound like someone running their finger nails down a chalk board,or two cats with their tails tied together....LOL

Thanks Julie

Ok, Randy, good luck then. I believe being a native speaker you should be able to find a job as an English teacher. Besides, there are always more business opportunities out there once you get to the city and get settled. Especially if you have a friend there.

Yulia,

I would be interested in more information about this opportunity. If you would not mind finding out what you can about teaching English in Omsk for someone who has very limited Russian language abilities. We can get together and talk more about details when Elena, Sergei, and I are there in June. We'll be there for two weeks starting on the 11th (I think). It is something that Elena and I have talked about doing in the future so if it happened a little sooner rather than later that would be okay with me.

Hey Randy,

Do you speak Russian? I'm just curious how you would be able to teach english without knowing some Russian too if they have questions. Do you have a high education in english besides just speaking it? I'm sure you have thought about it, but there is more to teaching english than just knowing the language.

If you do end up doing it, I have friends in Volzhsky too, I can try and help you, and I know an agency owner too. I wanted english lessons for the girl I was seeing, but the only thing available (at a good price) was the university. My girl took the uni course but it was difficult for her to do with her work schedule. I'm sure there are a lot of men that would pay a fair wage to have someone there to teach their girl to speak better, but you would have to promise not to try and put the moves on them ;). I might even hire you, let me know how things work out. - Dave

p.s. sorry about my comments about the hot young girls there, didn't know you had an 18 year old daughter  I date all ages, but it sounds like you have a good thing with your friend there, good luck.

Hey Dave, don't worry  about the hot young girl comments,I'm not that old,and my daughter.....I don't think the comment would bother her either..LOL

I don't speak Russian very well, but I do have a tutor that I go to and am slowly learning. No,I do not have a high education,I am going to take an ESL course for teaching English to foreign students. They assure me that there are lots of people that teach students with out knowing that persons language.Maybe even get my friend to help, give her half the earnings...auuuuh maybe a 1/4..LOL

I have thought of teaching(tutoring) on the side for extra money,no chance of making a move on them, wouldn't want to get in trouble with my lady.

Nothing is set in stone yet,but these are the plans I am working on right now.I just hope it all happens and works out.I'll keep yous posted as to how things are turning out.

Ken,

Since your wife is from Omsk, she probably knows Omsk State University? I think there might be an option there, it is the only State University that would hire a person to teach English without knowing Russian since they have advanced students as they call it - students who already know enough English and who just need to develop their knowledge. Once you are here, you cal always add up some private lessons or work for private companies as well. It will add up to your income.

I am not sure about how to send PMs here, so if you send me one, or give me your email, I would tell you more details and see if there is something I could do to help.
