My Russian is far to weak for me to have picked up what you were talking about early in the post but I think I get it now.

Way, way back, I used to write to a gal from Omsk.  The name really bothered me but if she was still available it would be a good match for your client.   Her name was Olga Vagina.   I have to say the name bothered me and I am not making this up.
Ray, thanks for the  incurraging post! Maybe there is hope for him to find a Russian wife yet! I do think that Huy and miss Vagina might make a good couple!
But trust me Vagina with the emphasis on "a" doesn't sound so bad to a Russian, nothing like "Huy" (no matter what vowel you put the emphasis on).

It would only bother me if her kid sister was named "Alotta" ...

Are you sure?
How would you feel if her big sister's surname was Pack and name Fanny?  ::)

Americans wouldn't have a problem, but I would give her a nickname or call her Dear, if we visited England ....

You indeed have been influenced by British culture.  In American lingo,  fanny is merely a cute word for one's backside. equivalent to tush.   In the UK, it is a vulgar term.    I learned this as a young man touring Europe and expressing to a Scottish lassie in public what I thought to be congratulations, "Come here so I can pat your fanny."  :o Compared to fanny, bollocks is mild.

"Fanny Hill" by John Cleland...     most likely that's how the name got a different meaning  ;D

This is not a joke, rather a serious question. My wife is still on the floor having convulsions so she is in no shape to give me her advice after we had this discussion.
I was contacted by a guy (I think he is Vietnamese) regarding my services. When I saw his name I first thought it was a joke but then after some checking I realised that it is for real.
Well, his name is Huy. Yes, you read it right - Huy is his real first name. So I asked my wife: "How would you feel if a guy wrote to you on a dating site, saying that he would like to get to know you better and at the end would say С тёплыми пожеланиями, Huy"
So my wife said: "what if he does get into a relationship and marries a RW how would she introduce him to her friends? :This is my husband Huy"? And if they have a child and name him Vladimir, would people have to call him Vladimir Huyevich?
Should I accept him as a client if he wants to use my services or should I tell him to change his name first?
This is for real, he exists, and Huy loves Russian women! I can just see him ending his letter to a RW: "Нежно целую, Huy".
I'm really torn here, any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance for all your help from both me and Huy!

PS. Please do not send me to see him. He is for real, google if you don't believe me.

Simple. Tell Huy to go date an Oriental gal, not a FSUW.

How is this man's name any worse than the English names Peter, Dick, etc.

пе́дер in Serbian-Croatian means gay.

was it a gay hang out place?

Not at all lol. Like in your example it's all about how it sounds for Russians and I'm sure you know this  :P . In my case it was close to impossible to eat anything in that cafe without bad consequences  for your stomach.

If he is still hell bent on dating in the FSU,  Suggest an alais.
You can introduce him as  Tony Hawk's little brother,  Mike.
Or, just claim ignorance....

reminds of the movie "the Jerk"   Steve Martin has no clue that he is obviously ...

Yes, you should explain to him that his name has a negative meaning in Russian, and you'd recommend to use an European version of it as it will significantly improve the chances of finding the woman. If he asks what exactly it means then you can give the meaning, lol
I remember being contacted by a Turkish guy named Baran.  :D  I just could't imagine the process of  introducing him to my family and friends. :D

so you know exactly how I feel. And baran is at least half way decent. What sounds better: "Mama, meet Baran, the love of my life" or "Mama, meet Huy, the love of my life"? Hopefully the parents would have a good sense of humor in either case!  :D

Huy doesn't sound that bad; it could be worse.

What if his name were Huy Head?

On a slightly related note; one of my properties is located in an area which is rich in 'trapped gas.'  The method used to release this gas involves drilling down and then horizontally for a couple of miles and then injecting water and air.  The process is called 'fracking' which is related to 'fracturing' as in breaking up the rock holding the gas.

Here is a humorous explanation of fracking.

"blue water" was an (in)famous TV ad for bottled water in late 90s. It was quite successful in Russia, but completely failed in Ukraine. Because in Ukrainian "vomit" is "bluwota"
now, imagine the ad, aired on TV in prime time in all commercial brakes, an image of blue liquid  with a sexy voice-ower "vomit... feel it....drink it...tame your thirst..."

I doubt it, "blevota" is the same in both Russian and Ukrainian.

you doubt what? That the ad was successful in Russia? Maybe it wasn't, but it ran far longer in Russia than it did in Ukraine. In ukrainian it's exactly "blyuwota"/блювота, not блевота.

Yesterday I was reading yahoo news about an old guy who was hit by a cyclist and died.
I am riding a bike a lot, so I read the article attentively, I know that was hard for the family of the old guy, but as soon as I read his name the way I'd read it in Russian I had very mixed feelings.

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2012/04/06/bicycle-groups-condemn-sf-cyclists-statements-on-fatal-crash/

"Chris Bucchere allegedly struck 71-year-old Sutchi Hui at Market and Castro streets shortly before 8:10 a.m. on March 29"

"Hui, who was walking east in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, died Tuesday in the hospital, police said."

you see, Dick and Peter are commonly used names and using these names for the other thing is more of a slang. No one is named "Huy" in any Russian speaking country. It's strictly a cuss word for penis. It has no other meaning, so Peter or Dick is not a good example to make an analogy

I talked to a Vietnamese man about windows his name was
Phuck Dat he ended up buying from somebody else (unrelated
to his name).

A buddy of mine sold windows to a guy named Buster Highman

Another sold to a contractor named last name Heller, his company
was called Heller High water construction.

My name is William but I go by Bill, however if William or Bill were considered
offensive in some language then I could go by Will, Willie etc.

All the guy needs is a nickname and an explanation to get started, who knows
He might have a nickname already.
