I'll give you guys some feedback based on what I experienced in russia

Posts don't cause me discomfort Olga, but when people are being described behaving in ways that I would not expect, it raises doubts in my mind. There are just too many contradictory pieces of information in the posts to make them credible to me, and as the photos posted by Dan show, AmericanBoy seemingly was in Russia getting some medical treatment, which would also be odd for an American. Russia is not exactly the hot spot for young men going overseas for medical tourism. The tone of the posts also suggests that AmericanBoy is seeking to boost his ego and/or possible beguile a few. Sure, there is a chance that his story is true, but I have my doubts. Perhaps it is my nature, but there is so much there that appears odd that I don't buy it. The description of the police raiding the discoteka was simply one of many details that struck me as not quite right...

If there's so many please name them. As I've said all along, just trying to give you guys some insight on my year long experience in Russia. Hardly any of you get a real idea of russia during a 1 or 2 week stay. and my goal was not to brag or boast at all. I have a long list of memories that I could share but I haven't, I gave you guys a couple examples.

I've said this many times before that IMO many men who are involved in this persuite do put RW on a pedestal and think that "The majority are faithful, loving, warm, homey, etc., etc."
Even during Soviet times when I was a teenager there was a lot of wild sexual activity in spite of the official "policy" that "There is no sex in the USSR". Cheating wives and girlfriends, bi and gay people, orgies, swingers - it was all present even during that time. Nowdays with the shortage of Russian males women became even more aggressive and what AB is describing happening at clubs does not seem unrealistic to me. Heck, I'm 52 now and need to loose about 45 pounds yet I still get hit on by women in Russia, even young (in their 20s) and cute ones. So it doesn't surprise me that AB had all the attention he could handle from RW.
However there are plenty of faithful, family oriented and very loyal Russian women. The trick is to figure out who is who. Many guys are trying to do this "on the cheap", or to find women who can speak English so they can talk with them directly, etc., etc.
Problem is that in most cases they will not be able to truly understand what a woman is about even if she speaks good English. If a FSU woman doesn't want a WM to know something most of the time he will not figure things out. She will tell him all the things that she knows that he wants to hear and an honest, open guy will assume that she is being honest and forthcoming with him as well and take her words as fact. I've always said that some guys wind up with good wives but it happens purely by luck. And I have always been accused of "selling" my services too much for saying these things. However, truth is that only a native Russian speaker can pick up certain clues and figure out what the woman is about. many times just a phone conversation isn't enough. Even spending a few days together may not always be enough to figure things out (although in most cases 2-3 days will give me all the info I need).


Life experience is very important as well. Even if a person is a native Russian speaker they may not possess enough life experience, people, and intuitive skills to figure out what a woman is about. If only you knew how many times I heard from guys: "but I had this Ukrainian girl translator talk to her and she gave me the green light, told me that my woman was OK, and wanted love and family. I don't know what happened, she turned out to be totally different, and a real bitch!". My point is that in most cases you can't have a young, inexperienced in life and relationships person give you a good advice on this.


OMG, I'm rambling now, but sometimes I just get too frustrated reading these forums seeing mistakes that guys make.

This is the problem with posting trip reports or any personal information in forums.  Some members will enjoy your experiences, others will be judgemental about everything you do, and then others will pick every detail apart just for the sake of arguing.

That is why many do not share trip reports anymore.  It's just the nature of the beast.  It's always a good idea to remember that all the posts and photos are visible to Google which in some cases might provide a wider distribution than the author intended.

As I said, I didnt head to russia in search for anyting. I was there for something completely different. I'm an alright looking guy, I'm young and I have a lot going for me here in America. Girls just happened.  I can see many of these guys are trying to find the negative oppose to the positive, which is fine.  If they don't believe me, then don't. Someone will find this information valuable.

I know I'm not the longest guy that been in russia, but I was there a long time not just for a week and most of these guys go for a couple weeks and come home, no real chance to get to know someone on a personal level, even if they do chat for hours on skype or change emails.

I arrived jan, 17 2011 came home april 7th due to visa issues, went back april 28 and returned home july 3rd, stayed home for 1.5 months before returning back to russia in august , and then recently came home march 3rd. So thats about a year altogether.

Yes, your perceptions and perspectives are interesting.

I don't really know my plan. I had a great relationship here that I ruined by going to russia. Really trying to figure out my life at this point. Before Russia, I had it ALL figured out.  A 9 year relationship down the drain =(

AB has I've said I've been going to Russia for 20 years, been to many places in Russia.  I'm married to a Russian woman, have a large large Russian family, speak the language. You say you spent a year in Russia, as what? An English teacher? English language teachers are everywhere in Russia. Many foreigners that go to Russia like to teach outside of Moscow and St. Pete, to experience the true Russia.

You say that your adventures with the Russian girls and women didn't happen in Moscow, if not Moscow where?  St. Pete? Saratov? Yekaterinburg? Novosibirsk? Krasnoyarsk? Vladivostok?  I've been to these places and far more. I wasn't the first foreigner they met in these places and that was 15 years ago. My sexy Brit accent and clean cut Brit body didn't get me too far with the women. So why were women falling all over you to give you food, money and their bodies? Tell us your secrets so the young generations of Americans and Europeans can follow in your footsteps.

I'm friendly, I have a pretty good smile and really I don't know why, they just seemed to love me. I don't have an answer for it. The last girl described it as her feeling like  servant and me being a king and said everyone loved me because I was good looking, fun, friendly and successful. She said for most of these girls I was a dream and that's why she was always jealous. and this girl was really really pretty. She said for 4 years boys tried to win her heart and not one boy came close and within 10 days I had..

If they go to Russia and say that they met dozens of "tens" who were falling over them, begging them to marry them, then yes I would be equally skeptical. I will be the first to say that dating in Russia is easier, but within reason. I could easily find dates, but not all women were throwing themselves at me either

On Easter, my Gal kept telling me how we were supposed to say the two things as a greeting and a reply.

The best part about it was how much she laughed at my attempts to say the words in Ukrainian which caused me to laugh  in turn at her joy.  This re-occured several times during the day.

I gather my Ukrainian accent was not cute . . . it was just plain ludicrous.
