International news will try to pinpoint it as protest against Yulia Timochenko.
Local authorities might want to check if they already paid their roof for the European Championship Football that will start shortly.

Oh boy. I wonder how soon long will it take to find the culprits; who will (of course) have ties with the Bat'kivshchynia Party.

I smell a desperate Yanukonvict trying to find an excuse to crack down on potential protests during the EURO2012.

Looks like Yanuconvict is looking to draw attention away fromm all the news about Tymoshenko's abuse in prison. What better way than to suddenly find that the culprits belong to her party. Smells so much like desperation!!!!

FWIW... my wife's initial reaction is that it is most likely more "bored youths" wanting to make big news,  Like the Dnepropetrovsk mass murders a few years ago.

She said, "These bombs are bad, but not so serious.  If it was professional people would have been killed and they would have targeted peak hour,  not during the day."

She commented on there being no big events and "no war at the moment"...

If nothing else seeing her reaction and hearing her thoughts is interesting.

Yes, another reason why I don't believe it was a terrorist attack. If it was, I'm sure there would have been fatalities vice some injuries with a few more serious..

The word on the street: (thru google translate)

favori _ 27.04.2012 17:14  Something is very similar bombings in Moscow on the eve of the second Chechen and "soak in the toilet." see specialists shkoly.A one who will be wet-clear.  **********************************************************************  Ivanivska _ 27.04.2012 17:02  And is it not clear who organized these "terrorist" as if explosions? No claims, demands, etc. No, no strong explosions and explosion no one but a few - all done in order to necessarily draw attention to this and according to distract from other issues - well, such as beating Tymoshenko and the opposition blocking parliament. And arranged all these explosions one who is beneficial (to divert attention from Julia) - those who are now trying to unlock the Parliament and to urgently take the oath appointed Yanukovychnm and RYHAMY, Lutkovska. Why so urgent - that Karpachova tells the truth about beating Tymoshenko and even shows photos of her bruises, and therefore Karpachova should close your mouth - that is, change it to "obedient" to regionals Lutkovska!    ***************************************************************************    Roman Danyluk _ 04/27/2012 16:49  It's yet to come up with a name for terrorist organizations such trouble. Didn't take long.

Officials Blame Ukraine Bombs on Terrorists
Quote
Yuri V. Boychenko, a spokesman for Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office, said by telephone that it was too early to make firm conclusions, but investigators were operating on the assumption that the bombings were the work of terrorists.

Wife is listening to the news now...

Current news stories have said:

They had blocked the mobile phone network in case there were more unexploded devices and after an initial search have found two more bombs, that either failed to explode or didn't have a chance to explode before the mobile phone network was switched off..

Could be more serious than she first thought...  they are continuing to search.

Possibly response to a draft introduced in Parliament a few days ago to counter terrorism by introduction of Russian style "managed democracy".   The new law would grant enormous power to the police and secret service to harrass any opposing to the government movements.

Muzh,

The online news networks are flooded with reports,  your wife will probably get more information from the news because a few of my wife's friends have been online and they aren't hearing as much info there as my wife is hearing here...

A network of explosions like this is definitely  a *terrorist attack*.
I would call it that without a doubt. [Certainly no accident.]
Who exactly were the terrorists remains the question     ....????

I'm too lazy to look it up but I thinks thats less than 1/2 stick. Might equate to a pack of cherry bombs

Dynamite is usually sold in the form of sticks about 8 in (20 cm) long and about 1.25 in (3.2 cm) in diameter, with a weight of about 0.5 lb (0.23 kg).[1] Other sizes also exist. The maximum shelf life of nitroglycerin-based dynamite is recommended as one year from the date of manufacture under good storage conditions.[1]
Dynamite is a high explosive, which means it detonates rather than deflagrates. While trinitrotoluene (TNT) is used as the standard for gauging explosive power, dynamite has more than a 60% greater energy density than TNT.

Most chemical majors could find explosive components to equal a stick of TNT from many ordinary household items.

My point here is not a debate but rather a statement that a bomb builder wouldn't achieve desired results from a mere stick of dynamite. Likely isn't the man they're looking for.
