your post just made me think who i like.. I like Daveman, GCQBlues, Gator, Ade, FP, AJ, groovlestk, Eduard, Daveman (oops did i say that twice :P ), Sandro, Shadow, Muzh, Misha, anotherKiwi, I/O and all the girls!! :) ,...

Aw shucks!  :offtopic: , but I like you too!  It seems rather sobering that Gator, Sandro and I are the only single ones on this list, and I'm a LOT younger than them!  :D

Seriously, when I joined this forum you were in probably your most prolific phase, and I was amazed when I found out just how young you are, and contrasted that with the wisdom that you espoused, both then and now.  Even with your tender years you have been able to open my eyes to certain things, so thank you!

And, in the same vein, thanks to several of the other RW/UW on here.  They have taught me so much without even knowing it.  At least I've been to the FSU a couple of times, so I've seen how a lot of people live, but I've also decided that next time (if there is one) will be the last, unless I meet "The One!"  Yes, I can afford to visit every so often, and I could afford to bring a wife home from that far away, but it's not like I'm Patagonie, living only three hours away and able to pop over for the weekend if he wants to.  For me it's a minimum of 30 hours to get to Moscow, then whatever time I might need to get to Kyiv or wherever else.  There ARE other places in the world that I would like to see as well.

I've also been out with a couple of RW here in Auckland, and had one visit here on the reverse of the usual trip (lovely woman, but stereotypical RW - "I love your country, but some things are so much better at home..." - and the absolute certainty that her opinion was the only correct one, and as for the mood swings - unbelievable...unless you know RW!).

I've also met some wonderful people on those trips, including one 19 year old University student (male) in Kazan who spoke the most amazing flawless English - when I asked him how long he had lived in the West (thinking that perhaps his father was a diplomat) he told me that the closest he had got to America was Moscow on holiday!

There ARE a couple of the RW whose ideas I do sometimes find hard to fathom but, by the same token, there are also various male posters whose ideas are off the planet. I DON'T include Calmissile in this list - I just think that he is not expressing himself clearly enough for some of the RW to figure out EXACTLY what he is trying to say. Some of you may remember a very brief spat I had with Chivo not long ago, about the merits of our respective favourite singers. My point at the end of that discussion (only three or four posts, from memory) was that, if two people whose first language is English can come to cyber-blows over linguistic semantics within a discussion, what hope does a RW have of trying to understand the subtlest nuances of our weird and wonderful language?  Finnish may be the hardest language to learn, but does it have as many irregular verbs or homonyms as English (seriously)?

Also, I'm noticing a deterioration in the standard of spelling here (and I don't mean Olga's "privet" instead of "private"). It was only a few days ago that there was a thread stressing the merits of good English, because those RW/UW who speak English of a reasonable standard (especially those who are nearly fluent) will expect a native speaker to be "perfect." I don't care if individual posters don't really care within themselves about how they present their topics/discussions/arguments, but a mis-spelt word in the wrong place is going to confuse enough people to possibly set off more flame-throwing at what was probably a perfectly innocuous comment had it been spelt correctly. A native English speaker will almost certainly be able to figure out the correct meaning from the context - someone whose English is not quite up to that standard may not.

I'm not trying to be condescending to the RW here, but it's quite obvious that certain posters lack that last 1% of comprehension that's needed to elicit the true meaning from a phrase which just hasn't been written or spelt correctly enough.  So guys - up your game!

All of this is of course irrelevant to the thread title. My contribution to THAT would simply be: if they're that desperate I would have had at least six offers of marriage from just one place - the woman I went to see, her friend who lectured in English at the local University and interpreted for us when we needed it, at least two of the friend's colleagues (all three also being pretty and single, although the friend and one colleague had a child each) and a couple of the women working as translators and consultants at the dating agency she used.  Not one of the five that I met through this chance acquaintanceship was remotely interested in leaving Russia.

And that's more than an hour reading this thread, then composing a reply - enough!

I don't get many who ever want to talk about going to schools in Greece, Italy or Norway though....imagine that.

Why would they have spoken to an American about going to schools in any other country other than the USA?

Because I teach test preparation and work with students on several levels. More ask about Canada than European schools, even UK ones.

Presently I have 4 TOEFL Students and 9 IELTS-Academic.

Hi guy. A little precision. I am not in FSU in three hours unfortunately. It needs me two days to do the roudntrip. In the best case i can meet my GF 12 hours after leaving my home. In the best case. In general i leave early in the morning and arrive late in the evening, both times. So going to a week end is not possible. Perhaps for a long one, if she comes in Kiev.

It stands to reason that if Russia actually were HELL...

Women would be dying to get in!

I'm with Kuna on this one.. what a bizarre, meandering, schizophrenic thread!

Doug, why do you care what a woman complains about?  Have you ever known one who didn't/doesn't make her dissatisfaction well known to everyone within hearing range and then some?  Hell, my wife even bitches at me telepathically.

I look at it this way.. encourage them to bitch as much as they want about whatever!  The more they do, the fewer b-neurons will remain to be fired in YOUR direction..  >:D   Get with the self preservation program, man!

So, remember Ladies... a vote for Daveman is a vote for Freedom to Bitch!  :D :D :D

Perhaps a little poetic licence, but it does take only three hours to fly from Paris to Kyiv.  :)   A return trip also costs only about 300-325 USD, compared with about 2,000 USD from New Zealand.  You also get 45 (?) days of vacation and public holidays - that's a lot more than my 31!  :'(

While Russia may be on an upswing, it does seem to me that most Ukrainian women look at a less rose colored future ... all things being equal.

I was surprised to see / learn how hard life is here for diligent people - younger people especially (20 - 35).  It seems hard to become established financially.  It seems significantly against the odds to create a good, successful life ( nice home, fireplace, wine, car, vacations, etc...)   I was also somewhat surprised to hear several woman affirm the low level of satisfaction with Russian men.  One woman said of her former husband, "it got to the point I would just put a condom in his pocket when he left the house.  Don't bring diseases back home."

Not troll the topic?!? Too funny, Pat! You're too much of a gentleman.

Consider the meandering content of the thread, 'trolling it' is akin to cooking a fresh casserole out of last week's left-overs...

Hey Muzh,

It doesn't surprise me, I find myself in agreement with what you say as well!
Nice to see there are guys on RWD I really like and respect. I actually thought for a while I've got the only normal/great one available.
Please pass my sincere congratulations to your wife  :D

And since we RW are direct (and great guys are such a rarity in this whole international dating business), I'd like to confess: I really like Muzh and Ade!  :D

Now, I hope we won't fight on RWD, that would be embarrassing after this confession.

Wow, I just read this. Thank you Pitbull. I'll let my wife know of your congratulations.  ;D

Well, I have to say that I logged out on Friday and came here today in the morning and read page after page of RW showing "submissive and subservient" behavior.  8)

I was really impressed at how ALL the ladies shared their "submissiveness."  :clapping:

BTW, where's Doug?

Most of those desperate to get out are desperate, period.. They are so bummed about everything in their life they'd rather take their chances with a stranger from a faraway land than face reality every day. Somehow the option of leaving is always more appealing to them than their current situation. And herein lies the danger of the ultimate disappointment, when instead of a Santa Barbara-like mansion they end up living in a hut with tiny windows.. Then they spend the rest of their lives trying to convince themselves that they "made it" and write books about it and chit..

Well, here's a picture of a tour. You can clearly see that she is desperate to immigrate and has found the right venue and the right attire.

I know a very sincere man from down under who met a wonderful lady on one of Jacks tours and they are now happily married. It is little wonder that he chooses not to contribute to forums like these with such stereotypical comments around that can often have little to do with reality. The naughty step for you my lad ... until Sunday at least.  >:(

It's interesting that so many men who are exploring the whole "Russian bride thing" are under the impression that Russian women are looking to "escape" Russia and desperately seeking American citizenship. Yes, seriously!!!!  :cluebat:

One of my wife's girlfriends asked me to help her find a decent guy for her a couple of months back. No, she is not desperate to "get out" and come to America. She is 32, tall, slim, pretty but not a model, professor of medicine, owns her apartment and a car. Is she desperate to get out of Russia and come to America? Nah! However she is extremely frustrated that she can't find a Russian man who would want to get married and have a family together with her.
Long story short I placed an ad for her on a site and I've been reading what AM are writing to her. On occasion she does get a good letter but a large percentage of the time they ask her if she wants to come to America and as their greatest asset they boast their American citizenship!
Here are some samples:

Wow. This thread is so schizophrenic. Maybe we can discuss the pros and cons of Russia vs. America? Indeed, that is how we answer the question you posed. Here are some objective criteria that are quality points of any country.

1) Infrastructure

2) Culture

3) Demographics

4) Wealth

5) Resources

6) Military Might (Air-Land-Sea-Space)

7) Privileges afforded to citizens

8) Upward mobility

9) Rule of Law

10) How good do the women look?

I can't say about Russia, however more and more chats I have with Ukrianin women lately are mentioning how difficult it is to find jobs.  Several of them also have indicated that their college educated sons are unable to find work in any field.

Seems contrary to the stats the Ukriane goverment is putting out about their economy.
