Why workers/employees pay low taxes? Because most of the taxes is paid by an employer.

The concept of legal work is catching on as they learn about the miracle of credit....

I paid all legal taxes for my company in Ukraine and endured snarky comments from not only the expats but from my accountant, wife, family members and other teachers for being crazy.

However, like many sideline kibitzers, they were clueless about the strategy I was carrying out. My wife was being paid my salary.

At first she was terribly confused by all this but the "Eureka!" moment came when she qualified to buy a new apartment. This worked out well in helping her understand how the US system would work and simplified some of the explanation regarding Social Security coverage, building credit in her name and understanding that our system has a benefits load that FSU folk have no experience with before arriving here.

Of course, as long as they tolerate a government that keeps an eye open for profitable businesses in order to shake them down it's only to be expected that they try to keep under/off the targeting radar. Even the little kiosk operators on the streets are careful not to appear too successful to the local authorities. Aside from tax authorities, it's a good way to avoid coming to work one day to discover your place burned the previous night as a result of some competitor's over-flowing frustration at their failure and your apparent success.

It is very difficult to make any generalization about countries as big and varied as Ukraine and Russia.  Kiev may as well be New York city.  Kharkov is a baby version.  There is some definite leverage a successful man has - especially American.  But, the pretty women have choices!  For example, when I went into every agency in Kharkov, I found 3 ladies that I would be interested in meeting.    Now, I have traveled to smaller towns, where there are no brand stores and the pretty women have more normal values by virtue of the fact they are given fewer choices.  HERE IT IS CLEARLY DIFFERENT.  Much more advantageous.  Still, there has been enough AM / Euros circulating through even these smaller cities to create doubt and caution in these women's minds. 


I think about the term "sex tourist" and I have to laugh.  It is taking me more energy to get a woman's guard down and BEGIN to have a normal human relationship, than it would take for me to get laid in any city in the world.    Sex is not my objective here.    It is more than suspicious for me to consider someone going on a "tour" and having multiple sex partners after meeting a woman for only hours?   (And I am very very good at such things)  Only "transactions" work in that manner.

And what you are experiencing is nothing more than the woman showing you that if you want to close this "traansaction" then you're going to have to deliver more than just showing up and flashing your passport. Also why WMVM is a tough go because it just doesn't allow enough time for the man to show how serious he is.
 
She wants actions that show her she is the one before she lets down her guard. Oh she wants the physical, make no mistake. But, you're definately going to have to earn it. And that means more than spending money, sporadic calls, being aloof (thats her job  ), giving any, and I mean any signs of being a player, etc. I could go on and on.
 
They are extremely careful and guarded with their hearts (I don't blame them BTW), and let's face it, it's not 2000-2004 anymore. These girls are hip to the tricks.
 
If you want to be with her, you best be VERY serious about it. Because if there's one thing I've learned about these woman (the good ones), it's that they play for keeps. And they want to be more than sure that you do too.

One thing a man tends to ignore or not realize is the dynamic from the woman's point of view. Remember that she understands how tough her competition is combined with the inequality of good, eligible men. She knows that beautiful women are everywhere. She knows how quickly a man can go from one woman to another, seemingly without batting an eye.
 
She knows, that even though she is beautiful, being left alone in a relationship is an all to common occurrence for her and some of her friends.
 
This dynamic is very prevalent here and is the basis for some of her behavior that might seem foreign to a man, even one who  has dealt with many (beautiful) women from their culture and country and how it manifests itself into the psyche of the women here.
 
It's something I've noticed here over time and I have had to adjust my approach to them taking this into consideration. Even now it still amazes me how an otherwise beautiful, intelligent woman can react so insecure or irrational, and I base much of it on "the competition, good eligible men" factor.

There's no question about this. It still does peak interest at first. Of course, a man still has to do what he has to. That's all. Don't take any other direction.
 
Let me tell what else happens here because I'm an American. Because I have a darker look I do get rude, uncalled for treatment around town, especially in the metro. I stopped speaking Russian to people and started to speak English to them. Why? Because once I start speaking English the whole situation changes and what could be a hostile situation quickly turns into nothing, even laughter afterwards. People stop f*cking with me just because I speak English, and yes, just because I'm an American.
 
And yes, RW have struck up conversations with me out of the blue, and have shown interest in me just because they heard me speaking English to someone. To the point where I was able to get their number and see them socially afterwards. So, yes it does play and I've gotten plenty of run from it.
 
Do they throw themselves at me wanting desperately to have sex with me and pray I take them out of their living hell? No  . Don't confused the issue.

Oh BTW, after discussing the fact that people treat me differently after I start speaking English to them (meaning the rude people in the metro for example) with my Russian friends and acquaintances, they have all told me that it's because they (Russian people) have a lot of respect for Americans here.

I'd add that other nationalities that generally "play well" in the FSU are French, German, Austrian and the Scandinavian countries.

Depending on the social group you're around Spanish, Italian and many of the Latin American countries (as long as complexion isn't too dark).

Brits piss and moan just as loudly about their Embassy accessibility (or lack thereof) as the Americans and when it comes to blustering in the face of officialdom the average Brit probably edges out the average American.

Those Canadian guys and gals are the most out-/easy-going and the  Latinos are pretty laid-back unless you run across them at the salsa clubs.

The rest are just not as thick on the ground for much more of a general impression.

Of course the women should be falling for the man, not the passport, but the comment was pretty clearly with regard to the initial impression and making the contact. Nobody suggested it was instant sex or even a guarantee to a second date.
