Visa to Switzerland
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:18:51 AM »
Does anyone have any experience/information on wheather or not a Ukrainian citizen with a residence permit for a schengen country in their passport would need a visa to Switzerland?

I have not done that-- but I have researched thoroughly. Having that visa is a huge plus in making life easy for you.

I understand, my wife and I have been traveling extesively thoughout Europe the past years and have never had a problem.
Last spring we did a little driving tour through northern Italy, which included a swing through Switzerland, through St. Moritz. There were no border checks though, so we just breezed through. We are thinking of taking a weekend in Athens next week, which includes overnighting in Zurich.
I am pretty sure there isn't any hitch, just difficult to find information about residence permits v. Visa's and if they are treated the same.

We've never had a problem using the residency permit.  Visa is long gone in an expired passport.  No need for it anymore.

Thanks BC,
Same here, visa is long gone, in an expired passport. Same with a B-2 visa to the US. Her current passport has the residence permit in it and as Switzerland is a Schengen country I didn't think there would be a problem, just checking to make sure.
