Jimbo's Introduction
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:48:51 PM »
I am an RUA Exile.  I got my walking papers today. That said, I did meet some nice people and got some great information that served me well.    I got a woman in Kiev, Ukraine originally from Bela Circus that I am bringing to my country, if she will have me.  she's great I cannot say enough good things about her.

When it came to trip research, it was rather minimal.  TripAdvisor (site) and Lonely Planet (book) served me better.  Route recon, google maps and I used AirBnB on the advice of an adventurer.  AirBnB served me well.  CoachSurfer helped me get a sense of the street life among English speaking locals in my country of interest - Ukraine.

Every one of us has a past, is dealing with aging and is getting crusty.  (And for a man who is by no means a friend to the feminist movement, it made me feel sorry for the women.) It's written in the bible man is not meant to live alone (for good reason.)  I like debate and an exchange of ideas because you can learn from a diversity of perspectives and gain information and test the value of information quickly by listening  or participating in debate.  But I am not interested in replicating the name calling flame wars with a new group.

There was a lot of camaraderie among my friends.  It is a controversial decision to go abroad one fraught with moral hazard.  And in making that choice and taking those steps, I felt a part of international fraternity.  But if you have been apart of a frat, frats have dark sides too and i sure had my fill.

I have been a member for sometime but on the recommendation of a fellow traveller I am here to contribute, share and learn.

God Bless You!  If you are searching, may you reap what you sow.  If you attached, love the one you are with.

Sir, thank you for the welcome.

I have real problems I am dealing with.  Some that you are dealing or have dealt with like when she arrives and she continues to be awesome I have to rearrange my life financially around her, insurance, retirement and estate planning, culture shock, personal security in Ukraine versus the US and let's not get started about the Visa Journey.

Thank you for your welcome.

Yes but it is much better moderated, even when I disagree with them.   LOL

All boards have had their high and low points - no gain in discussing them here.

Welcome to your new home. I trust that you find the same amount of help and good advice here as you did elsewhere. I trust that you find yourself better able to recognise and make use of that help and advice.

Absolutely.  All references to drama at other forums have been removed.  They serve no purpose here.  They will be deleted, rather than modified, in the future.

Were it valuable, it would not have been deleted.

Any comments attempting to recreate flame wars between this forum and any other, or complaints about administrators, moderators, posters, or topics on other forums equally will be deleted, and the topic closed.  No negotiation.

Why? So someone can pull on an off topic pissing match?

For those not as old as some of us who are silly enough to have been around for way too long, we've been through all the crap here and then some - it was pretty robust here 'back in the day' and to be honest, probably more to my taste then than now but............decisions were made to move things to another level and that's how it is. I've been around longer than many here and I don't know who the mods are nor do I care. I suggest Cal, you adopt the same stance - don't take it too seriously.

And this is the correct response for anything concerning posts which indicate events which occurred on or opinions about any other forum.

What happens somewhere else stays somewhere else.  That's RWD's official policy on that topic.  We cannot control what other fora allow or disallow but we would hope their policies would be similar.

That being said...

Please tell us who you are in real life.

Well, that would defeat the purpose of Anonymity, wouldn't it?  ;D     The point of Anonmod is so that there is a separation of Member participation and Moderator actions in support of RWD.  This way, is it more likely for a mod to have neutrality and less likely to play (or be accused of playing) favorites.  The Anonmod may very well be one of your "online friends" who can, by virtue of Anonymity, spank that ass when you need it without personal hard feelings..  :P

Not a perfect system, but it does have benefits.

...

RWD mods are the best mods in the world!!!

I tend to agree... in a very unbiased, neutral kind of way...  ;D

SO, all that being said...

 :welcome:
