I hope everyone is having a good day, but I am going to venture out and say that Women's day sounds really forced.
We already celebrate the special ladies in our lives with Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Birthdays, etc. It seems odd that a blanket "Women's Day" is so popular. I just hope that Russians celebrate Men's Day too because now I'm looking forward to the power tools, wrenches, and liters of beer!

Until more recent years, Valentine's hasn't been much of a factor where Women's day has been big for some time. Also keep in mind that Mother's day is another Western tradition no celebrated in the East until more recently.

You'll find that Russians have a day just about everything but not every one of those days has the same importance.
