Is is OK to advertise my wifes new Russian Language site?
« on: April 01, 2013, 01:51:25 PM »
Hi all...

This is Kevin Carpenter, aka Goombah, a member since 2004/2005.  I've been happily married to a Russian woman for 7 years now.  Our youngest child is about to start kindergarten and she is looking for a way to help contribute financially.  To that end, she has started a website offering Russian/English services - letter translations, language lessons, and the like.

Is it OK to advertise her website somewhere on this forum?

Thanks!

Kevin

Kevin, it's OK here and other similar boards for services, provided the applicable RWD TOS rules are observed ;).

Wow, Kevin, you have a wonderful child on your hands!  Surely she can skip kindergarten - she'll be far too busy with the website!  But, yes, I do know what you mean.  :D   I wish her (both of them) the best of luck.

I would say that she should create her own account here. Then it can be classified as a commercial member. That should allow her to post in the commercial section. Though you should probably PM the mods to ask for the correct process.

Brill, anybody can post in the commercial section, regardless of their status ;).

No particular process involved.

I will suggest she get her own account, thanks.

In the meantime, we are looking for feedback on her site:  http://eviaca.us

Thanks all!

Almost sounds like this is your daughter's business. The title of the thread says it's your wife's. Tell you wife to participate on forums like this and she will gain customers since they will appreciate her participation.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Yeah, bad wording on my part.  Sorry.

To be clear:  My wife has the website.

My 6 year old daughter is trying to raise guppies that she would be happy to sell you though... <laugh>  The concept of money is something she is still learning.  For the past two years she occassionally comes down to my office with a "Daddy - I have something to sell you.  Pick one!"  I'll ask "How Much".  She will say "For you?  Free!".

My wife has the website.
Kevin, a couple of language-related nitpicks on her home page ;):

- It is my goal to be able to help bridge cultural differences between American's Americans and Russians.
- nor am I representing myself as a pshychologist psychologist

Children are the most special gift! If they only knew how much their smiles were worth, we Dad's would be happily broke forever.

Internet problems this morning, name servers were offline.  Should be better now.

We have a commercial Internet connection, but nothing is perfect.  Most of the time is a regional problem when we are offline, this morning, out of habit, I just reset the modem and up it came.  Sometimes that causes the service providers equipment to "wake up".  Rarely, it is actually a hung modem, unless the modem is failing.  It has been several years since the modem was replaced, hopefully this isn't a start of it dying.

Thanks for letting me know.
