We often see some crazy stuff on Russian roads filmed by dash cams.  It might lead you to think that Russia is a Hobbesian world where life is nasty, brutish, and short.  Here is a video that provides a counterpoint to that.  Russian drivers are filmed helping babushki across busy streets, stopping to pick up a toddler who has wandered into the street, helping up a person on crutches who fell in the middle of the road, pushing cars that became stuck in the snow, etc.

That is why I believe freedom is still strong in Russia. Sure they can fight with you for no apparent reason. But at the same time the random acts of unselfish kindness are prevalent.

Nice music, but in all honesty...All the time I was thinking... Crossing the road wouldn't be such a death defying experience for old ladies and people on crutches if drivers had a habit of stopping their cars for pedestrians  . And think about it, what was an acceptable alternative to getting the toddler off the road? Expectations are very low in Russia apparently
