I'm 30. I'm moving to Europe. I have questions :)
« on: July 22, 2013, 08:03:42 AM »
First, let me say that I can't stand American women.  I was born in the US, but I'm Russian/Italian, and have no intentions of marrying an American.  My ex of four years, who was from Kazakhstan, ended any possibility of dating, let alone marrying, an American.

Work is taking me to Europe.  Bonus, I can find a wonderful woman over there to marry.  I'm 30, I'm attractive, I'm charming.  Age won't be an issue.

I'm particularly fond of Ukrainian women.  Could be the Russian accent.  I won't be traveling to Russia at all (and by Russia I mean Moscow), but Kiev/Odessa are certainly a possibility.

It's become increasingly obvious that all of these Russian websites are scams.  Are there any that aren't?  I would prefer to converse with a number of women before arriving (I'll be there up to six months).

I can certainly understand your preference to date FSUW (Former Soviet Union Women) rather than AW.  After some years of dating AW I formed the same preference.  You mentioned that your ex was from Kazakhstan and she was the cause of your abandoning dating AW.  Did you find that she was superior to the AW you had dated and that's why you resolved to find a FSUW wife?

You might try mamba.ru, which is geared to be a FSU dating site.  It would help if you spoke at least passable Russian.

I had a friend who moved to Odessa.  He loved it there and I think it improved his enjoyment of life quite a bit.  And after wading through a few hundred flakey Odessa girls he finally found a great girlfriend (in Kiev).  Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.

Little advice just because your young, good looking, and charming in your words think your marriage material.  These RW see guys like this every day.  There are thousands of expats in Ukraine as well.
I met my wife working in Ukraine.  It will be easier for you to meet you future wife if you actually live and work in Ukraine.
Regarding agencies thousands of great RW in agencies just use them to meet women for 1 date and then never use the agency again on that woman.  Only meet RW who can speak English.  Never write letters or online chat - real RW hate this.  They like face to face meetings.

Hi TS,

Of course!  I'm not looking to impress anyone, I'm just making a general statement.  I'm not a 87 year old fat man looking to marry an 18 yo :).

I'm also looking for someone proficient in English, so I agree there.

Would you suggest any particular agencies in Odessa?

Thanks,
Steve

I would suggest you live in Ukraine - is this possible - if not, which country are you living in and for how long?

Wait. Let me guess.
You look at least 5-10 years younger than you actually are?  :)

Sometimes I sound like a broken record on Odessa and nearby cities but a newbie comes along frequently so here goes:

Odessa is one of the oldest sea ports in the world. These ladies have had centuries to hone their skills at breaking sailors hearts and separating men from their money--and you're not likely to be any different.

On the other hand, it is a beautiful area. I love Yalta and vacation there anytime we have the opportunity. All around Crimea are ancient Greek ruins and from the mountains to the beaches the place is a treasure to view and enjoy.

Few men are successful at finding a long-term lady from Odessa, Simferopol, Yalta, Kerch, Yevpatoria, etc, and there are reasons for that as mentioned above. A few from this forum have found good ladies but for the vast majority of sailors and Western wife seekers, Southern Ukraine has a well earned reputation for being the Bermuda Triangle of broken hearts.

Traveling there to date or even moving there primarily to date generally ends with that swirling motion and sound of you and your money being sucked down the drain.

If you are going to live and work there long-term then you'd have time to sift out the good from the bad and we have a member or two who reside there. You'd do well to enlist their assistance.

I'm mobile with work, so where I am doesn't really matter.  Do you think Kiev has more "normal" women?

Even here in the US, most women are looking for men 5-7 years older than them.  That's a natural maturity level difference between the sexes.  In my case, no, I have no particular age demographic.

Since your mobile and speak almost zero Russian I think you could go Kiev to live.  If you spoke Russian at medium level then Odessa and Kharkov would be good cities.  But without the language you need to be in Kiev.
You should enroll in Russian language class day 1.

Steve,

In case you move with your work, my advice would be to stick to your work location. You could register at any dating site, be it freepersonals, mamba or anything else. There are lists of them on the forum somewhere, I guess. Prepare good photos and a profile text in order to make an attractive profile.

As a Russian who worked with my Western expatriate colleagues all my life, I could tell that you probably won't face much competition from other expats in the FSU. A number of them are most likely to be in a different league as age, appearance and level of establishment is concerned. A number of them are married and inavailable (although, some still get divorced after they get to know us the FSU women ;) ).
Da, da, Canada; Nyet, nyet, Soviet!

Any large Russian city, Kyiv or Kharkiv. These give you advantages of a major city and airport for your work as your professional contacts and necessary business resources are there along with large numbers of single ladies.

I love Ukraine but there is no magic to being in Ukraine for finding a lady over anywhere else.

Given your handle of "iheartequities" are you employed by or associated with Clear Channel Media?

If you are in radio/tv then you need to be in Moscow as Eastern Europe is a market of concentrated media via central networks and the opportunities for growth are very much in Moscow and in Kyiv to a lesser degree.

I have to agree with the comments that have been made about Odessa.  Between Kiev and Odessa I would say Kiev by all means.  There are cities that would be better choices as far as finding good women but between those two there is no contest.

As far as a site to use I would suggest Elena's Models.  It is where I met my wife and I am fairly certain more men have met their wives there than any other site and possibly more than the others combined.  Mamba and FreePersonals.ru are other reasonable choices but Mamba would be better if you know Russian and FreePersonals is a reasonable choice if you would rather waste time than money.

In the OP’s circumstances I would choose Kharkov before Kiev or Odessa. There’s enough English spoken for that aspect to be not too much of an issue.

There are lots of cities I would chose before Kiev including Kharkov but Odessa is a place I would avoid like the plague if I was wanting to meet a sincere woman.

Yes, Odessa
Kiev is a good choice, main hub of Ukraine for an international increasing trafic. So you can use it and sail to local cities with a connecting flight, there are many if you choice secondaries cities like Simferopol, Kharkov, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv.

Kharkiv has the better golf course.  One of only 4 golf courses in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the European tour this week is at Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, 47 km from Moscow in the Dmitrov district.  Built by billionaire, Oleg Deripaska.

The new PGA National course in Zavidovo, about 70 miles northwest of Moscow, appears to top all the FSU courses:

Russia/Ukraine have no golfers on the PGA tours.
But Russian Maria Verchenova plays on the ladies European Tour and is a sponsor
for the Zavidovo club:
