10 years together....and still alive to tell about It!

Hi All,


Today (August 8, 2013) Victoria and I will have been married for 10 years. A few years ago a few naysayers started a thread asking if any AM/RW couples had reached a significant number of years in a happy..successful marriage. The figure chosen by them was "10 years". Well...we can no longer say there are only a microscopic handful of couples to reach this milestone. It has not always been easy...but...it has always been worthwhile. No longer a "clashing" of cultural differences....just acceptance.....and sometimes a little humor. We really are...."best friends".....and each other's best company. I was finally able to determine the most important attributes.....qualities....in choosing a partner. I did not figure such things out until I was almost 50. But some folks will never be so fortunate.................at any age.

We now live in Gaylord, MI.....about 50 miles South of the bridge. We are now "trolls" (people who live below the bridge :-) I lived in Marquette, MI for 30 years.

I posted a belated "congratulations" on your wedding anniversary. I only pop-in once or twice a year.....for a week or two on this board (and recently RUA) 
..........then disappear for another year.....or so. Every now and then I find someone he is amenable to help.....and put in my two cents worth. Still a huge amount of folks trying to shove a square peg.....into a round hole.

If pike in the 36-45 pound classification is what you're after, then Vladimir Putin can like show you exactly where in Siberia's Tyva region.

That is, if wouldn't mind him being your guide. Based on this photo, he can ride horses as well as Obama can play basketball or golf. As any 'good' rider will tell you, you don't ride 'back' and hold the reins tight when horses are on an incline (notice also the position of his foot in the saddle and straight-knee to boot).

Now to be fair...here's Obama trying to play golf. Notice the chunk of real estate he took out for a divot with his bob, hump and over swing, LOL. Notice, too what one of the photographer said..."Man, he sux!"

To be fair  , he may simply be bringing the horse to a halt.  Depends, of course, on how experienced a rider he is, but I've seen plenty of people stop a horse by doing the equivalent of pumping the brake pedal as hard as they can while straight-arming the steering wheel!

Yeah well, horses aren't yet equipped with ABS systems.

They're naturally prey animals and are keen with their senses. So it doesn't really take much to properly ride commands on horses. Knees play an important role in riding horses. The red dun is mid-stride, with the head naturally slumped over. Dead giveaway it is laboring over that stride.

Methinks it's at least 14+ years old. A 6 year old, even a gelding, would've easily had Putin laying on his back, looking at the sky gasping for air with the type of maneuver.

Even my wife can now ride horses better than what Putin is showing here.

Red dun?  To me it's a standard bay.

Yeah, I thought so, too at first glance. But maybe I'm either being too picky or just bias as the tail seemed a bit translucent to me as opposed to being 'black' (as the mane is) and the base of the tail itself seemed red diluted. The ears also appeared dark along the ridge instead being black tipped.

But either way, it's a laboring horse. Poor thing....
