Getting your Lady into Canada
« on: April 19, 2006, 12:28:53 PM »
Only this time for the better!!!!

Canada recently changed their stand on immigration for women or men who marry Canadian citizens. There is no longer a one year wait. If you get married officially in her country, which is still a must do, you can file the paperwork immediately & have her back in Canada in about 3 months. This is going to make some very happy campers in Canadaland.:)

For commonlaw & same sex unions, the one year proof of relationship still stands.

So us guys from Canada can finally say 'My God they got it right for a change!!!'

Congratulations Canada, damn I would like to see that herein the USA.

The only thing that I have been able to come up with is that if you could figure how to get her into Mexico...then she would of course enter as an illegal alien with the rest of the Mexicans and the Bush will pardon them all because he just said it was too impractical to send them all back. I think it will work!  What a bunch of crap. A Mexican can enter illegally and if not caught the that is ok but it takes a act of two congresses to get a FSU citzen into our country.

PeeWee since USCIS has probably lost my paperwork I've been keeping my ears open on ways to enter the US illegally.

Here's the latest that is happening (at least here in CA).  Immigrant gets on plane anyway they can.  Destroy documents while in midair.  When you hit processing with no documents they have no choice but to give you a date to hear your case, usually about 30 days after you enter the country.  Outside of a few locations they do not actually hold this person until the hearing, just let them out.  Of course the person never makes it to the hearing.

Where did I get this info, well I've been spending a lot of time at an international airport so I've been able to learn all kinds of fascinating things about the entry process.  Let's say when my fiance finally enters the US it won't be much of a problem.

Now if I only had those kinds of friends in the California Diservice Center.

HI guys,

I just thought I would pop in and let any canadians know if they have any questions about the process, feel free to drop me a line.  I have had the pleasure of others helping me out navigating this process, and know how crazy it can be.  As a Canadian, I was married in Feb 05, in St Petersburg, Russia, and then had to go through the process.  She landed in Canada on Dec 11/05.

If anyone from Canada needs help understanding the process, feel free to drop me a line.

Cheers!!

Calcowboy,

If you have any good links to documents or processes why don't you post them in the Wiki?

Ken

P. S. Is the "Cal" in your name for Calgary? I lived there for 5 years in the 80's. Loved the city!

Hey Calcowboy...please correct me if I am wrong but wern't you the guy who got married in SPB & had some problems because you inundated them with paperwork they didn't need even after I told you on the other board not to. It slowed up your whole process if I recall correctly.
Its a very simple process if you follow the Russian rules & not anybody elses convoluted bull.
No offence, just askin'.

Catzenmouse, you bet, I am from Calgary.  I love the city!!!, and so does my wife!!!

As for the wiki??? what the heck is that???

Rvrwind, I think you may have me confused with someone else.  Indeed, I was married in SPB, however, I really had no problems at all.  There was one small glitch while we were on our honeymoon (The damned ZAGS lawyer was on holiday while we were married and figured he needed a bribe, or cause us problems).  This had nothing to do with our Canadian Government, just one of those pesky shake downs that the Russians are famous for.

As for the paperwork, I think I sent about 6 lbs of paperwork (it was about 6 inches thick), and there were no problems at all.

Sorry, The only real problem as I can remember is the fact that the Canadian Embassy uses a courier company called "The Pony Express".  It actually took the courier company 28 days for them to send the approval letter from Moscow to St Pete.  I believe they actually used ponies to deliver it.

Cheers!!

Of that I have no doubt whatsoever!!! ;D
By the way I may be comin' home for a short trip before the end of the year so I'll be back in Calgary as well. Probably be runnin' back & forth between Calgary & Edmonton but will be based out of my sisters place in Calgary. Not positive yet as I need to work out a few things first, just have to wait & see.
