American tax/immigration lawyer interested in Chelyabinsk women
« on: September 15, 2013, 09:02:33 PM »
Hello All,

My name is Joshua and I am new to the RWD forum. My interest in dating a Russian woman was sparked last year. I dated a Russian woman during that time however she ended up moving to another U.S. state and we decided that should be best friends to preserve each others emotions and trust.

I have to say that our relationship was awesome, we traveled, dined at quality restaurants, wrote poetry together, and the sex was amazing. She knew how to treat me with respect and was a very strong woman. So here I am interested in meeting someone from that area in hopes that there may be a Russian woman who has those same qualities if not more. I actually started learning the Russian language because of that relationship and don't want to stop learning it even though I'm no longer with her.

I currently reside in Madison, WI but plan to move to Washington D.C. next June. I would appreciate any advice or connections individuals in the forum can offer. In addition, I would be happy to answer any questions about myself that I can.

Look forward to a progressive dialogue from the community.

I see that your interest in Chelyabinsk isn't the meteorite that struck recently, but the girl you mentioned was from that area.   :D

Since you've been learning some Russian the Chelyabinsk city online portal is http://74.ru and the English version of the same site is here: http://chelyabinsk.ru

Chelyabinsk has an airport (CEK) but you're better off flying into Yekaterinburg which is a much larger city. A bus leaves the centre of the city of Yekaterinburg ever 30 minutes and costs about $12. The trip is just under 4 hours. You could also take a train from Moscow, a once in a lifetime adventure I always recommend, but that will take 34-35 hours of your time in-country.

In-city transport is reliable and cheap with regular bus routes, electric trams and electric trolley buses. You absolutely must ride both a tram and trolleybus to qualify for "most favoured genuine tourist" status. The city is building an underground Metro subway system that is scheduled to open in 2007 2009 2010 2011 2012 2014 2019 (funding and engineering issues).

During the Russian civil war Chelyabinsk was aligned with the "Whites" and held by the Czech Allies under command of the Americans and Brits headquartered in the north but fell to the Red Army. The Czechs were responsible for guarding the Tsar's Gold, much of which has never been recovered, so if you stumble across it in your travels please let me know so that I can personally escort it back to the proper authorities.  ;D Maybe we'll allow the city to keep a few crates in order to get that Metro project back on schedule.

One of the biggest employers is a tractor factory that has been around since the 1930s (that is why the women are so strong), and the professional hockey team is the Chelyabinsk Traktor.

This is where Europe begins to merge into Asia so the facial features you're going to see will vary from Euro to Asian and they're quite beautiful. You're in southern Russia, east of the Urals (you gal probably taught you to speak "Urals" correctly, I'm guessing), and Chelyabinsk is not too far from the border with Kazakhstan (less than 350 miles)--another reason to have a multiple entry visa so that you can leave Russia for a day or so and be allowed back into the country.

There is a great deal of interest in Tibetan culture in and around Chelyabinsk and of course Mongolian and Kazakh cultures given their proximity.

It is about 8859 km from DC to Chelyabinsk, so saddle up and enjoy the trip!

When you go to Russia, you'll have to get a VISA, pay a fee to get into Russia and fill out some paperwork.  I think there is a waiting period.  Mendeleyev and some of the other Rusky Hunters can tell you

Chelyabinsk is not the best place to start searching for a Russian women, it is a long way from nowhere if things go tits up. Better to stick  to a more friendly city first like Moscow or St petersburg :)

There is no waiting period. There is a "processing" time one would need to allow for. Although, one can pay extra expedient rush processing. Regular time cradle to grave is 2-3 weeks

I had 4 correspondents in Russia - one in Siberia, Tomsk, Nizhny, and Kazan.  3 out of 4 were good girls and I wish I would have nutted up and made the effort to see them but Ukraine was cheaper

Thanks for the nice comments, LT.

LT, my first time to the FSU was flying into Kyiv when Boryspil was still primarily a military airport. Flight attendants collected our cameras and note pads, then pulled down the window shades of those in the plane who were media passengers so that we couldn't spy apparently. We stopped on the tarmac and a bus, window shades also closed, took us up to the terminal. Soviet citizens could not use Boryspil then but the airport is such a different sight today and Ukraine is beautiful so I can see why you'd fall for a lovely Ukrainian lady.

Steve, you and I share a love for Moscow's two capitals but Chelyabinsk is a big enough place with over a million population so that he can make other opportunities if the first doesn't work out.

However in defense of Steve's comments, if it were my first trip to Russia I'd go to Moscow one week and Peter the second only to return home realizing that only the surface had been scratched. However if one were to travel just once or twice and go other other places without making the most of the chance to experience these two great cities, that would be a shame as well.

If I had jone's bread, it would be no issue.  You want to call me a skin flint, ummok

Mendeleyev,  what I wrote is true and no one disputes it.  The ladies I met were deep, good girls - I hate to generalize but there is something about Russian culture that makes for deep interesting people.  I still have a few friends - there's a young man who practices his English on me and I torture him with my Russian.  They just want what we want and you know what?  Within my lifetime, maybe even faster, they will get it

I think that they will too and I hope the same for Ukraine. For several years I took on responsibilities as producer of weekly English language broadcasts for the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and was so impressed with their charity work that I did it as a volunteer. It only takes one visit to an orphanage or a pensioners food basket distribution to fall in love with Ukrainian people and ache for them during those days of transition from communism to what many called "wild west capitalism" in that time.
