Private visa to Crimea
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:20:39 AM »
I am starting to get information about getting a private visa to Crimea. It can be valid for up to 90 days. I have attached the two different form letters.

Can anyone translate the Russian one for me?

Here is an article concerning the current environment in Crimea.  It is consistent with what my wife has described.

Thanks for the link, Doug. The story is right on! My wife and daughter waited in line for two days at the passport office. Finally, since a family member works at this office, they got in through the back door and got their applications in.

Yes, it seems like people in Ukraine have many more freedoms than in Russia.

Wayne, do you realize that when your spouse has her Russian passport, she will not be able to get a visa to visit USA?

As I understand it, those with Ukrainian passports who live in Crimea can apply for visa to USA in Kyiv.

Those with Russian passports who live in Crimea must apply in Moscow, and USA has said it will not issue visa to Russian passport holders living in Crimea.

Has any of this changed last few days?

It seems that US citizens can get a visa to Crimea. I have not heard about Crimeans not being able to get a visa to USA. ML where did you hear about this?

Right now, wife and daughter have conditional residence in USA.

Not sure where I read it.
Some general news story I believe.
Possibly Kyiv Post.

I didn't say ALL persons in Crimea would not get visa to USA.  Those with Ukrainian passport can apply through Kyiv.

But those with Russian passport apply though Moscow and will not get because USA does not recognize Crimea as part of Russia.  Same for many other countries of the world.

Not sure how it would be known that Russian passport holder lives in Crimea.  City of residence not shown on Ukrainian passport.  Not sure about Russian passport.

But city of residence would have to be shown on visa application.  Could lie about that I suppose, but would have to have a mailing address outside of Crimea.

We don't know yet if they are going to take away the Ukrainian internal passport when they give you the Russian internal passport. The internal passport has the residence information.

I don't think that the Ukrainian international passport has the residence information?

If you already have a Ukrainian international passport, you could probably use that to travel to USA. Your first problem would be getting from Crimea to main land Ukraine. There is no telling when flights will resume. You could try to take the train.

Wayne, what's the big rush for your family to get Russian passports? Urge your wife to come hope ASAP until things are sorted out in Crimea. If planes and trains aren't moving, send her money for a taxi to take her to Kiev. If she needs to visit the American consulate to get her documents in order to enter America, the sooner the better. There's a possibility of a civil war coming and annexation.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.
