random thoughts...

of what you can expect if married to a *cough* traditional RW:

that cleanliness is next to Gawdliness , and even Gawd, is a fairly unkept and dirty being...

that you dont eat properly, you eat the wrong things,  at the wrong time.
its amazing you are alive.

That you don't eat enough, ever. You're a man.A man is supposed to eat. a lot more than you do, whatever that amount is.
if you eat enough to feed a small village in Africa,,
but dont have room for dessert, something is fundamentally wrong withyou.. and ,,,,
well,,,,
 you need to eat more.

That some of the proper things you eat, are consumed in the wrong way, even water.

That consuming ice water (or anything with ice ) can kill you,
 and actually should kill you..
to be perfectly honest ,
its fairly amazing you are even still alive to read this ......

really.

that iced tea is well, something with ice in it..
it's beyond  bizarre anyone  would even think to put ice,
 ICE mind you!
 in tea.
 tea = hot
 corn = cold
get it straight man!
my gawd !
i bet you put jelly on asparaguas!  dont you?
admit it!

that consuming anything cold, when you have a *cold* or *cough* ,
 is paramont to drinking Drano.
Drano with ice.
it is just beyond human comprehension ,
if you should somehow live thru it,
you are simply a statistical anomoly, and should be studied closely by scientist!

Shopping
that shopping is not truly about purchasing anything...
you fool!
yes that is correct, read it again.
ingrain it in your memory banks.

shopping is simply a elimination procudure or process -
to ensure that every single store has absolutely nothing that is exactly what she needs to buy.
when , and only when, every item, in every store,
has been inspected at the level needed for  nuclear reactor ratings,
and it is concluded correctly that none of them have anything .at all-

one item *may* then be considered for purchase.

that purchasing said item will take a substantial amount of dwelling on the price, verses the need .
it will also be inspected at the nuclear level for another 20 minutes.
wait, i said  20 mins.. better make that 35 mins ..
it's possible this will include  going back over a few items that were
for sure sub-nuclear standard..
just to ensure that they are sub par,
and yes,not to fear,
 they were.

That the above applies to every item needed, ever.
you are possible amused now ,
and think i am refering to a pair of pants, or a new handbag or purse.
I assure you this is every item purchased,
 or even considered for purchase.
like apples.,or dill.

that you are responcible for everything..
yes everything.
the suns exact placement , at a particular moment for example.
dont laugh! you arnt married yet or you wouldnt be laughing...

that  you are indeed the very best man in the world, and will be treated and valued as such in every way.
(this only applies of course if your RW loves you)

That dieing from drinking iced tea , lessons with time..
you dont die as often,
and dont die as dead as you first should have.

This applies to shopping as well.

Disclaimer:
yes all RW are individuals , and as such you will find every type of personality.
its impossible, and rude,
 to generalize an entire  populace!
this was meant for amusement only, and if you take it seriuosly you are already married , or have been married , to a RW.
despite this , your milelage may vary.

 ;D

ahh!
it should be noted .

Margaritas , pinas coladas ,mudslides , or daquiries,
are a scientific exception to the rules of ice,
and are not harmful.
they will not kill you outright.
they are tasty in fact,
but you should have already known that.

AJ,

Everything you wrote applies to my wife's shopping habits in all areas except shoes,  I''m thinking of changing her name to "Imelda".  The girl never met a new pair of shoes she didn't like.

AJ,
There's one thing I'd like to agree with you on this topic!!  ALL OF IT!!!!!!!! With jb, I believe Val is Imelda #3, and I might throw in her fetish for purses. But Ken's(Catz) wife has satisfied this addiction quite nicely. Elena has designed and sewn several purses for Val lately. Absolutely stunning along with a dress. With each dress she makes, a matching purse is included. For those of you who are interested(for your wives that is) contact Ken.

I had to laugh at the rant about ICE.  Prior to my wife's arrival I replaced my old fridge with a new Amana side-by-side, superduper model fridge/freezer equipped with a handy-dandy ice maker, with thru-the-door ice and cold water dispensers.  When she saw that,,, well, you'd have thought I'd invited the devil to dinner.  She was certain we were all gonna die.  Just having the damned thing in the house was a Gawd-awful health hazard.

Been there, been through that.

I remeber in the seventies when we moved from our traditional two-up two-down slum with no hot water, and outdoor toilet to a new-fangled council house with two taps (one hot one cold) and TWO indoor toilets.

My owd dad, used to nightly trips to the 'petty' in the backyard looked rather unimpressed with the indoor WCs....

"Toilet inside? Isn't that a bit unhygenic...?" he said...

Sorry, what were we talking about?

My wife and her RW friends think that the only real use that third form of water (aka: "ice") is for cooling their glass of wine - and there seems to be no relationship to the quality of the wine and the amount of solid H2O applied :D

My wife is a physics major, so she knows what pH means, I had to get some pH test strips to convince her the tap water was safe here.  Lucky for me, it tested a "7" so we can at least cook with tap water here, but she still drinks only bottled water.

it should be noted this wasn't a
*bean rant* LOL!

and my wife would/will laugh while reading it was well-

There are numerous things/ideas that once upon a time were a big BIG deal,
that i would find her doing at some later date,
and we would both laugh.

I agree with everything AJ said, including the ice is good for marguritta's part. Iced tea is just crazy according to my wife. 90 degree's outside...how about some nice hot tea?

I will add that my wife hates the idea of hiring someone when you can do it yourself. Grass cutting...painting...etc.

Going out to eat is frowned upon, when you can easily cook something at home. Why spend the money? (I am slowly breaking her out of this one. )

Cokes are BAD FOR YOU AND WILL KILL YOU!!  But beer is ok of course.

Being from St. Petersburg or Siberia originally does NOT mean that when she moves to the southern U.S. she will not get cold. She is cold ALL THE TIME.

Love Stuffed Animals.

Sweets are BAD. They will make you fat...but hey...let's put this jar of mayo on to our saleds.

There are a few times when Elena is hot but they are fairly rare. The humidity bothers her more than the heat.

Except for chocolate!

Similar experience here in southern Italy with quite mild weather (hardly ever freezes).

Think 2 factors are involved:

1. When it's a good bit below freezing outside, humidity is low even inside the house. Even I agree it's more comfortable.
2. We pay mucho bucks to heat.. She was used to near sauna temperatures in her apartment (with that little window open) at a reasonable price.  Temp here inside house in winter about 20C days (68F)  vs 25C to 27C in RU (77 to 80F)  @ 3% difference in energy costs per degree F our bill would jump 30% at the least.

TFF AJ & very correct.
I gave up counting the hours I stand around the market waiting for her to make a damn decision!!!
I go in see something I like, if it fits, I buy it, 20 minuts tops!!!
She'll go back two or three times to look at the same item & then check 5-6 more booths to see if she can find it elswhere cheaper. Afterall gotta save that 5 roubles!!!
And yes I am constantly berated for my cold bottle of water in the fridge while her warm one being pefectly good & natural sits on the counter. Ice Tea, must be toxic.
Another thing I get S**T for is not unplugging the microwave after use. Seems those little microwaves leak out & irradiate everything in the apartment. She is surprised we don't glow in the dark!!!
Cold, she is always cold. I'm sweating my bag off & she has a blanket wrapped around her, LOL.!!!
