Where to give donation for Ukrainian military cause?
« on: September 29, 2014, 12:27:46 AM »
In about a week's time I will be heading back to Kharkiv to see a UW whom I first met when I was over there in May this year.
As the lady speaks the banned Russian language, I hope that the authorities had not sewn her lips shut...

If I get a chance to, I would like to make a small donation to the Ukrainian military cause. Not interested in donating for the humanitarian cause as I would like to donate strictly for the military effort. For example are there kiosks at metro stations that collect donations for the military?

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Good luck with trip.
There are many places you can donate-- they will be obvious enough.Any public gathering will see collections being made. Many fixed points all over Ukraine too.

In addition to the excellent link by Bo, here are a number of organizations supplying the Ukrainian military:

Although quietly, Canada has stepped up and has been, and continues, to provide Ukraine with actual fighting material such as armoured vehicles, weaponry, etc.

The USA has provided some helmets, night vision goggles, MREs, and oddly enough--Russian and Ukrainian language editions of Playboy, Penthouse, etc. Who needs tanks when you can distract some Russian conscript with photos of a naked babe?!

PS: there are scattered bodies of dead Russian soldiers now rotting, and smelling, around some hotspots such as the Donetsk airport. We should take up a collection so that another Russian convoy can come and pick up those bodies. One of the tasks of the first "humanitarian" convoy was Груз 200, the Russian term for transporting zinc-lined caskets with bodies, back home to Russia.

Theatre of the Absurd.  It's very sad about dead Russian soldiers waiting for a proper burial.  Mothers and relatives back home in Russia need to know the truth about what happened to their loved ones.

Mendy......you forgot to mention the condoms included in kits from US. As I spoke to some friends in Kiev that were doing voluntary work for the Red Cross, they were joking about the reasons for including such an item!!! I did not know about the magazines, I will have to ask them!!!

So that the soldiers can tell their wives/gfs they were only reading the articles if they were ever caught being in possession of these magazines?
