Let's see, met a nice girl online, her name is Oksana, she's 28 and I'm 59 but she says age doesn't matter. Just lost her job as an embroidery teacher to young children due to a fire inspection. Loves to cook with Mum and catch up with her best friend. Loves the way she can share her lifes ups and downs with me. So I did a search on this internet cafe she sends her mail from and here I am. I guess what set her apart is it seems like she actually reads my letters as she does answer questions and types my name in now and then. Don't know what the end game is as she / he has not asked me for money, maybe just a lonely homely kid looking for a pen pal. At least now my suspicions are confirmed, met her on OKcupid. Must have sent a half a dozen letters, last one had two pics of her on ice in a park. " If it looks too good to be true.... "

I have personally been down this road before. Everything you are writing about I have heard before. I will tell you that you really do not understand what these people ( he/she) will go thru, the patience they have, the manipulations they will take you thru, in order to finally, finally, get you to cough up the bucks. One girl wanted to talk with my daughters. One girl I actually met and never once asked for anything until I got home then sank the hook. Please trust me on this. They will NEVER come here. They will play you for months or even a year or so. They have nothing better to do. Same girl had to go away to take care of her sick mom. Later found out she was with another guy in Amsterdam.

Do yourself a big favor. BIG favor. Shut this down now with some happy memories of what will NEVER be.

I too have the same correspondence with "Elena" who was working in a school that got shut down. I have recieved pictures that looked staged, and asked her about it. She said her friend took the photos but moved away to another city. Her friend is "anna", helping her to decide to come here. She does answer some questions but is vague. If anyone wants to trade the pics or letters , I am curious to see if it is the same scammer.

I have never met any Russian or Ukrainian that did not own a cell phone.  Can you imagine being literate enough, in the West, to be able to use a computer and send out reasonably thought out letters with somewhat correct grammar in English, when your native language is probably Russian and do not have a cell phone?  (We have many people on this site who use only somewhat correct grammar.)

If someone tells you that they don't have Skype and don't have a cell phone, but are able to upload sexy pictures up on the internet, I can guarantee that they are a scammer.  NEXT.

A thought just came to me:  The Kremlin has 20,000 paid trolls.  If only a quarter of them tried to supplement their income by writing to Western Men, that would give us 5000 scammers who spend all day long putting trash on the internet.  I'll be they have access to camera ready photos off of Twitter or FaceBook.

I have never had a problem telling a woman that I was corresponding with that I had a reasonable fear of being scammed.  While some on here would advise to not raise a woman's alarm bells by demanding Skype or phone conversation or personal information, I think it is healthy to let a woman know how many types of scams are ongoing and that you have some concerns.

If a woman is really sincere, she will suggest ways to communicate better that allow you (semi) peace of mind.  Ultimately, until you meet her and hold her in your arms (and she holds you) all you are doing is obsessing over a picture or words on a computer.

My mood is not good either. Before I make any decisions in life I need to be sure, really sure. This time I am 100% correct. I think the time has come to reveal it all. Who are you? Seriously, who are you? I told you I wasn't stupid, and I I know who you are. GOOGLE is a very powerful tool to expose those who are not real. I have used it to find your pics on other sites. Your name appears with pics on dating scam sites as well as discussion boards. The Email address also is a big red flag.  Lie to me some more, tell me something else, like the school closing for fire regulations. I wonder where that red dress is? I haven't seen it yet, but others do. Elena or whoever you are, it's over. I played along far enough.

Yesterday was all about her mum and how  they like to cook together. She sends long detailed emails and never asks for anything or says anything weird like being in love, but perhaps this is still to come.

Jottersten made his post a year and a half ago. Apparently the story hasn't changed since then which means it's working just fine scamming enough men to bring in the money. Reminds me of those guys that stand on street corners holding a sign for years using the same story, yet suckers keep rolling down their windows and giving them money.

Well, whoever "Elena"is they're pretty smart. The emails are long and detailed and address everything I raise. I've even tried to trip them up a few times. For example "Elena" told me the name of the town where her parents live. I've lived and traveled in Russia, so I picked the name of a different town with a very similar name, but far away from the one she mentioned, in my reply. She caught it and corrected me and told me that the town she had named was only a few hours away from her city.

"Elena", to her credit, puts a lot of work into all of this. I really have to wonder what end game is for guys that fall for it because she really is playing the long con here.
