Rembrandt,

I give you both critical and positive comments.

First the critical - You seem like an intelligent man, saying you have an Ivy League education.  So why did you choose a 19-yo for a serious meeting?  I am willing to bet she is uneducated, certainly not working in some white collar profession, probably capable of only menial jobs.  Really, was she the type of woman you would be proud to introduce as your wife to the CEO of some IT company?

Another critical comment - Do you know that intelligence can be measured in at least seven different ways, of which only two are needed for  university education?  I say this because carrying  $8500 in cash is very dumb, yet not nearly as dumb as mentioning it to Svetlana.   You give Ivy League a bad name.

Now the positive - as others have mentioned, I appreciate your humility and candor in telling your story.  Yes, please stay around and participate with us.

Now some advice - I know that you feel very confident about your present woman.  And you have visited her periodically.  However, be sure to think everything through backwards and forwards.   I say this because any man dumb enough with $8500 is capable of making other stupid mistakes.

I wish you the best.  Truly I do.

Ludmila,

The Eagles song you cite goes all over the place - failed journalism,  short-term love addicts,  and seemingly mockery of conservative religious views.   So what is the message, as I seem to be missing the little picture you paint.

I guess I would better understand your posts if I had smoked a joint.  But it has been years.

But stay with us at RWD.  The same as you, I too misread Rembrandt's description of the $8500.

If you are an Eagles fan, I suggest you should mention Lyin' Eyes for those men in pursuit of much younger women.

Really?

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

As well as being wacky to begin with, seems like Ludmila has added to her incoherence by swigging on that bottle of vodka a little too much...

I think Rembrandt sees a big difference in his current fiancιe compared to the scammer/prostitute.

One mistake new guys in this endeavor make is not making enough phone/Skype calls to the lady they're visiting. If Rembrandt had done so, I don't think that prostitute who hangs around thugs on a regular basis could portray herself as a family oriented woman. He should have never visited her. Some guys do make enough phone calls but they ignore red flags. They have it in their mind the woman they're communicating with is looking for the same thing they are and love will solve any problems so they are reluctant to drop a woman when she displays red flags.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Hey Rembrant, good luck with the lady....one thing I hope you are changing is that YOU are in charge...YOU decide what hotel you stay at.  You make all the important decisions pertaining to yourself.  Don't let yourself get led around by the snout, even in a foreign land.  Of course you can be open to suggestions, but do your own research and decide.

Ludmila may be a little wacky, but the one comment that was a bulls-eye pertaining to Russians and their vodka being equivalent to American's and their 'anti anxiety/depression drugs.  I've been shocked by the number of my seemingly normal friends/cohorts who are on meds for these issues.

Really?

I was really nauseated after watching most of just one of the videos you posted.  Clearly there is a huge disconnect between what the Russian laws purport to do; and what is really happening.  The disgusting violence and degradation which is actually happening does so with impunity.

Russians and their vodka being equivalent to American's and their 'anti anxiety/depression drugs.
Possibly so, I don't have hard numbers from which to draw an accurate conclusion so anything we reflect is simply opinion but, assuming (dangerous thing to do) there is merit in this theory, which produces a more civilized result?

The only sweeping conclusion one can make is that most meds for treating psychological conditions are anti-depressants, typically increasing neurotransmission.   In contrast, vodka is a depressant and inhibits neurotransmission.  Thus, medically they are not equivalent and in fact near opposites.

As far as "civilized results," most of us know the side effects of alcohol.  In moderation, alcohol can take the edge off.  More can lead to anger, aggressiveness, imbalance, incoherence, etc.

People who take anti-depressants state that it improves their thinking, enabling them to function competently.

GATOR, OBVIOUSLY NEITHER IS GOOD. BUT ANTIDEPRESSANTS ARE CORRELATED WITH SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR. DON'T SEE THAT THEY HAVE MORE CONS COMPARED WITH ALCOHOL.
ACCORDING TO "USA TODAY", MAY 23, 2014 IN THE ARTICLE "HONOR ALL OUR FALLEN BRETHREN" :SINCE 2001, THE NUMBER OF SUICIDES AMONG ACTIVE DUTY TROOPS HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED. IN THE ARMY ALONE SUICIDES HAVE TRIPLED. IN FACT, SUICIDE, HAS BECOME THE SECOND MOST COMMON CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE MILITARY.
THE DEPT OF VETERAN AFFAIRS ESTIMATES THAT 22 VETERANS TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES EACH DAY, THOUGH THE NUMBERS MIGHT BE SIGNIFICANTLY UNDERESTIMATED....
Big Farma may want you to believe in what you said, but  as we say in Russian "horseradish is no sweet than radish"....

Studies have shown that the use of antidepressants is correlated with an increased risk of suicidal behaviour and thinking (suicidality) in those aged under 25.[89] This problem has been serious enough to warrant government intervention by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to warn of the increased risk of suicidality during antidepressant treatment.[90] According to the FDA, the heightened risk of suicidality is within the first one to two months of treatment.[91][92][93] The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) places the excess risk in the "early stages of treatment".[94] A meta-analysis suggests that the relationship between antidepressant use and suicidal behavior or thoughts is age-dependent.[89] Compared to placebo the use of antidepressants is associated with an increase in suicidal behavior or thoughts among those aged under 25 (OR=1.62)

Boe, I can click my mouse too. Enjoy!Cases of violence against LGBT in USA.  2010–present[edit]

  • March 30, 2010 – Amanda Gonzalez-Andujar, a 29-year-old Latina trans woman, was found dead in her Queens, New York apartment. The autopsy found that her attacker, Rasheen Everett, had strangled her then doused her body with bleach.[127]
  • April 3, 2010 – Toni Alston, a black 44-year-old transgender woman, was shot in the front door of her home in West Charlotte, North Carolina.[128]
  • May 7, 2010 – Dana A. "Chanel" Larkin, a 26-year-old black trans woman who worked as a prostitute, was shot three times in the head by her client, Andrew Olacirequi, after she asked him if he was okay with them having sex despite her male genitalia. She was found dead on the pavement of a Milwaukee street.[129]
  • June 21, 2010 – Sandy Woulard, a 28-year-old trans woman, was shot in the chest in South Side, Chicago. A passing motorist found her lying in the street, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.[130]
  • October 3, 2010 – A 30-year-old male known as "la Reina" (the Queen), Bryan Almonte, 17, and Brian Cepeda, 17, were kidnapped by a homophobic group of youths calling themselves the Latin King Goonies, sodomized by foreign objects including a plunger and baseball bat, burned with cigarettes, and tortured for hours. One of the teenage victims had wanted to join the gang the attackers were part of, but when members saw him with the 30-year-old, they later picked him up and took him to an abandoned apartment and asked him if the two had had sex. When the teenager responded positively, he was beaten and sodomized. The gang later picked up the second teenager whom they had also seen with the 30-year-old and repeated the process. They then lured the 30-year-old to the building with the promise of a party. When he arrived with alcohol, the gang tied him up and tortured him and made the 17-year-old burn him with cigarettes. They then robbed the man's 40-year-old brother, coercing him by putting a cellphone to his ear so he could hear his brother beg to pay them.[131][132][133]

The push came from the gay-rights group Kentucky Equality Federation, whose president, Jordan Palmer, began lobbying the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky in August 2011[143] to prosecute after stating he had no confidence in the Harlan County Commonwealth's Attorney to act.[144] "I think the case's notoriety may have derived in large part from the Kentucky Equality Federation efforts," said Harvey, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.[145] Mable Jenkins, and Alexis Jenkins plead guilty.[145]

Teonna Monae Brown, 19, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and a hate crime in the beating, and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, plus three years of supervised probation. The other woman was charged as a juvenile and committed to a juvenile detention facility.[147] See: 2011 Rosedale, Maryland beating

Quote AC :I was really nauseated after watching most of just one of the videos you posted.  Clearly there is a huge disconnect between what the Russian laws purport to do; and what is really happening.  The disgusting violence and degradation which is actually happening does so with impunity.
AC, are you done reading? are you throwing up? I hope, Boe, your liberal galfriend, will clean after you, and you will be like new. Boe, Yahoo!--the air freshener is unnecessary, cause american nauseating product  smells of roses, unlike Russian.

22 VETERANS TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES EACH DAY
What might be interesting is to examine the respective percentages of service people who survive long enough to actually become veterans.

Literally, to me, that says antidepressants are no worse than alcohol - with this I of course agree but I suspect something else is being attempted in this statement. :-\

Ludmila, you fail to take into account that depression increases the risk of suicide by quite some anyway and also that although there is debate that some antidepressants may increase the risk of suicide in some people, generally, antidepressant treatment reduces the risk of suicide and saves lives.

And Boethius never mentioned that violence towards homosexuals didn't occur anywhere else. However, it was you that said, incorrectly as it turns out (duh!), "NOBODY BEATS GAYS IN RUSSIA".

As well as being wacky to begin with, seems like Ludmila has added to her incoherence by swigging on that bottle of vodka a little too much...
She is not alone in either--it seems to be a trend amongst some fsuw.
What a contrast with some of the more sensible fsuw we do hear from. I did post some time ago that guys who are still looking need to read some of the ramblings of the crazy. Can you imagine being stuck with that!!
SLAVA UKRAYINI  ! HEROYAM SLAVA!!!!
Слава Украине! Слава героям слава!Слава Україні! Слава героям!
translated as: Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!!!  is a Ukrainian greeting slogan being used now all over Ukraine to signify support for a free independent Ukraine

Exactly.

Precisely.  Of course violence against homosexuals occurs in the West as well.  I never stated otherwise.  However, as such neanderthals would be arrested and face hate crime prosecution in most Western countries, they don't usually post youtube videos of their crimes.  The fact Russian yobs post their nefarious deeds online suggests they are either: (a) far dumber than their Western counterparts; or (b) free to inflict violence upon their victims with little worry of legal repercussions.

I am not "cleaning up" after anyone.  I riposte to those posts I choose to respond to. Your post was ridiculous, as anyone with even a passing knowledge of gay rights (or lack thereof) in Russia knows.  I merely pointed to its silliness.

Had you made an equally stupid assertion about something in the West that interested me (you have made some stupid assertions about America, but I have not bothered "going there"), I would have riposted to that, as well.  But I don't expect you to understand that, as you retain a sovok mentality.

BTW, you forgot the most infamous case in your list - Matthew Shepherd.
