Old Soviet Tactics

Just dust them off.  Apparently they work pretty good.

Геноцид по-российски.
1) Нагнать россиян-пропагандистов в Украину;
2) Промыть мозги местному населению, внушая, что они на самом деле россияне (посеять сеператизм);
3) Развязать военные действия на почве сепаратима;
4) Нагнать российских солдат и оружие в Украину;
5) Подогревать активные военные действия;
6) Естественно нести потери в военных действиях;
7) Объвить эти потери геноцидом!
Браво!
Genocide in Abkhazia.
1) catch up with the Russians-promoters in Ukraine;
2) brainwash the local population, suggest that they are in fact the Russians (plant seperatizm);
3) to unleash military action on grounds of separatima;
4) catch up with Russian soldiers and weapons in Ukraine;
5) Preheat active hostilities;
6) Naturally bear the loss in hostilities;
7) Ob″vit′ these losses genocide!

In what is likely part of a broader pattern, FSB officers in several cities in the Urals have called in for questioning Russians who have taken pro-Ukrainian sentiments online and have warned such people that they risk losing their jobs in todays bleak economic conditions if they continue to do so, according to Kseniya Kirillova.

In a report on Novy Region 2 yesterday, Kirillova writes that searches and interrogations have taken place among several [pro-Ukrainian] activists from Yekaterinburg and nearby cities.

One was called in after she posted a picture of Stepan Bandera on her Vkontakte page. Another was questioned after writing critical comments online about Moscows aggression in Ukraine. And a third faced what the journalist says might seem a more prosaic situation but one that may be even more disturbing.

The FSB called in Yury Kuznetsov and pointed out to him the risk he was running because there is a crisis in the country and [at present] you have good work, an implicit threat that he could lose his job if he continues to oppose Moscows policies with regard to Ukraine in any way.

Perhaps even more seriously, the Russian security service threatened his fathers position in its ranks. They pointed out that your father is in our organization. Hes a respected man, he has worked many years, we know, and he is still working, again implicitly threatening that all that could change as well.

Asked by the FSB why he is supporting Ukraine, Kuznetsov said he responded that his cousin, a Russian, lives in Ukraine and that his Russian nationality has not interfered with his ability to make a good career and that he has even been promoted in the time since the Maidan events.

Such actions of intimidation recall Stalins times, and it is perhaps appropriate that they are being reported today on what is the 135th anniversary of the birth of the Soviet dictator.

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Great article.  I believe they did this sort of thing recently to Tatars in Crimea.  And rumors of ethnic Ukrainians also being treated pretty badly there as well.  Hopefully someday more will come to light.

The Tatar TV station is still off the air, last I heard. My friend Anna is an ethnic Ukrainian journalist who lives in Yalta. From time to time her photography is in the Mendeleyev Journal. She lost her full time job as a reporter.
