Dear me, I can't believe you actually believe that.

Hello, Изумруд.  Nice to see you here. :)
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Ah yes the human rights. Was there not somthing in there about torturing prisoners?

The difference is, tens of millions of Americans protest any time their country does something which they believe is contrary to human rights.  In general, they don't support the leadership for these actions.

There are hundreds of thousands of Americans who believe Cheney (and to a lesser degree, Bush) should be charged for the abuse that occurred at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamao.

I don't believe anyone was tortured at Abu Ghraib on Obama's watch.

Cheney still defends all that torture, BTW.

However, the point was, there are a lot of Americans who protested that torture.

Here's a news flash.  Bush and Cheney aren't in charge anymore and if you are going to defend Obama, ask him how many innocents were killed in his drone attacks.  What's that?  You cannot ask Obama?  That's right.  He doesn't do press conferences or answer tough questions.  So glad we intervened in Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt and Syria.  Tell me again about that 3rd Iraq War.

Stop reading liberal news smut.

1.  You don't know what I read, so stop making assumptions.

2.  I am not married to you.  Stop telling me what I should, or should not do.

3.  This is not about Obama.

How do you think Bush or Cheney would have reacted to the Ukraine crisis?  Are you happy with Obama's response?

Yes, I am.  I don't think sending troops would have been a positive response.  I think the response was coordinated with the Europeans, which is important.

I'm not.  It may have been an okay response initially and of course working with our European partners is always important.  NATO and the USA need to step up to the plate and give Ukraine the weapons which they have asked for.  Anything less will allow a determined dictator to continue carving up Ukraine.

The Ukrainians i communicate with seem pretty happy with Obama's response too....they don't particularly want foreign troops going into Ukraine and escalating the situation, starting World War 3.

They would like more modern and advanced weaponry to fight the Russian invaders and pro-Russian separatists/mercenaries with, and going by recent reports that seems to be starting to happen now.

On another note there was a prisoner exchange in Ukraine showed at Christmas on Sky News here and there was real affection for Poroshencko being shown by the Ukrainian troops as they disembarked the transporter aircraft,as he greeted each one personally with a hug....i couldn't imagine Cameron doing that somehow.
Just saying it like it is.

I don't want foreign troops on Ukrainian soil either, other than trainers.  They clearly need the modern and advanced weaponry and it's overdue.

Yes, and those protests will actually be shown on all the television news networks (major or minor), will make the front page of almost all newspapers and will be openly discussed everywhere.

Obama repudiates his security obligations under the Budapest Memorandum.  So did David Cameron.  Its hard to say what might have deterred the President of Russia in seizing the Crimea and the Donbas.  The point is that military options weren't even on the table.  US Warships off the coast of Crimea would be a minimal effort to keep in the spirit of the treaty.  The whole thing like Qaddafi's death impeaches nonproliferation forever.

Its spilled milk.  But it is Obama's legacy.  I don't believe his team is handling the crisis well.  We midwifed this revolution now we want to maintain its life on the cheap.  We aren't arming or training these people or stabilizing their economy.

The way forward is that they will need a multi billion dollar air package from the IMF with the US and EU paying for it.  They will need guns and training.  What better way except through NATO membership?

Russia maintains the legal fiction that they aren't involved in Ukraine.  If true, then they won't mind if other nations help her rid herself of security problems.  Putin is a wounded dog with nuclear weapons.  Putin perceives Obama as weak.  He will escalate in conflict to scare Obama.

I do submit that this is exactly what Clinton did to Slobodan.

I don't think it is reasonable to ask Obama to do anything more.  He has done enough.  He doesn't have the team or the character to see this through.  Another President may handle this different but it will be an issue in the 2016 election.
