SX-- a lot of the tanks shown in masses in photos are not recoverable. They have been working on getting as many serviceable as possible. The urgent need was to get as many as possible into service.

You might be surprised at how many serviceable units can be made from a good boneyard and a great crew of mechanics and machinists.

LT, That's an Op-Ed speculation piece. Ukraine hasn't gotten to the point of even making an application to join NATO. There are conditions to be met before the app. can even be sent in. UA simply hasn't gotten to that point YET.

 In the future I am sure that it'll happen, just not now.

Mike, I recall the Republican members of Congress wanting to give some sort of special status; I can't remember the name of it.  Most Congress members consider Ukraine a friend and ally and Russia now an enemy.  It's Russian actions which have pushed Ukraine to wanting to become part of NATO.

No--I would not be surprised !! It was why I was asking Mende if these were additional to previous press releases-- and they are. The biggest problem they had was that the systems were so wound down and divested that there were/are not enough  qualified/competent people to do the work. An active recruitment program was instigated  early in the piece and is still gearing up.
Another problem was the cross polinisation of the manufacture of parts needed-- many original sources not available etc
Just a few more examples of the difficulties faced in new direction.

I am glad you have.  As a journalist, I acknowledge and respect the dangers you face.  But you aren't on the line are you?  In the cold, in lonely checkpoints, in body armor and a k-pot, are you? 

Because those guys?  The guys I talk to say they have not seen ANY of this.  And really, if you know anything about warfare, which you do, that C2I equipment you speak of won't defend you from a GRAD rocket, 762 or any amount of hell the Russian military can bring down on you.

The Russians aren't a competent fighting force.  Otherwise they would have conquered Georgia, stabilized Syria and blitzkrieged Ukraine.  The modernization Putin promised doesn't look like its happening.  But Ukraine is still needs more.

And even you must acknowledge the corn that the West with its acres and acres of Army, Navy and Air surplus, a West that with drew its last tank from Europe last year, must do A LOT more for Ukraine, an ally of NATO.

LT-- it takes time to deploy equipment-- it is not instantaneous. The way you write is as if it is not actually happening and is misleading.
On Mende-- there are generals and troops-- your attempts to goad Mende is both irritating and misguided.( & others also). Collating material and getting it out to the world is a VITAL part that is helping Ukraine get it's situation publicised. You also ought to appreciate that anyone who is close/has been close/or will be close to the front lines is hardly going to be talking about it on an open forum--or in your case even privately when you have shown no respect to any confidences entrusted in you.
On western tanks in EU-- read today that US is deploying  150/180 tanks immediately to EU.

There is no excuse for Ukraine to be without a lend lease program and a Marshall Plan.  Many on this forum including you and Mendy have been warning the world of the diabolical character of the President of Russia.  It is irrigating to hear you prop up the weakness of the West in front of this evil.

The EU and IMF are imposing a VAT tax increase on Ukraine - country who had never known prosperity in the past 100 yearsnow maybe in the Netherlands you could tax your way into prosperity but in the rest of the world it doesn't work that tax increase increases the prices on average Ukrainians.  meanwhile public employees like the people in my own family for instance have not been paid in months.

Juicy J those veterans on this forum No that it takes time to master a weapon system to learn it and the master it takes a lot of time also it takes a lot of time to use the that that that mastery of the weapon system in a small group and to work as a unit that sort of stuff takes time and Ukraine does not have the luxury of time Ukraine needs these weapons that are idle acres and acres and acres of Army Navy and Air Force equipment that is sitting idle and depots all across America.

what I tell you there are units in Ukraine that I've not received any equipment from their government body the enemy and have not received anything or basic equipment its true winter clothing thanks received from volunteers they proceeded from overseas they received it from Ukraine don't eating out of this out of out of our hearts and home they receive that money but not from their government why only want to say this Simon Ostrovsky and said the same things as wellPorsche Kohat a Victory Day Parade and then within which variable was seized by Russian Marines stop making excuses for the west I will choose a lot of things at the portion of government is doing but will I will not excuse but I will not excuse is the tolerance for corruption in all facets of the governmentstop defending failure J stop making excuses J execute
