Proponent of Pre-Nups doesn't get one
« on: January 05, 2015, 02:15:43 PM »
I first posted this in another general thread; but am thinking it might be worthy of its own thread since it is buried in the other thread.

= = = = = = =

I have always been a strong proponent of pre-nups but decided it wasn't really necessary for me at this point in time.

First, she has a substantial amount of money of her own and is going to inherit even more from her parents, so I know she isn't marrying me out of desperation to provide for her future financial security.

Second, I have been disposing of a lot of business and real estate assets and have completed the task of setting up trust funds for my future grandchildren.

Third, I have transferred ownership of a couple of rental houses to my children with provision for a life estate for me in those houses if I need a place to live.

Fourth, I am getting of the age in which I really wouldn't give a sheeeet if she were to leave me and get a huge settlement from my assets in a divorce.

I would probably be content to go off to a mountainside cabin and live on social security income.

I have had a pretty fantastic life in general, have seen much more of the world than most, have spent time with dozens of interesting women, so I can be content with reminiscing now.

Note that this is very specific to a person in my financial situation, my having provided for future generations, my age, my having two adult children who are financially successful on their own, not having other relatives that need my help, etc., etc.

I still think pre-nups are a good idea for most guys and gals who are not in my situation.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Even better than the money, you can show her the door if she becomes intolerable.    And if she does not go through the door, you can.    :D

Gator, you mean it's easier to 'show her the door' without a pre-nup?  I don't follow exactly.

I strongly suggest that she gets a prenup to cover her assets.

A little late for her as I already tricked her into the marriage.

I wonder how I will fare in a Ukrainian court?

yours is a case in point of how individual this experince can be ,

it is also a case in point of having a set preconception of what a person would do in a given situation before that situation arises ,
quite often we get to that situation in life and we dont do what we always thought we would
we do something totally opposite  ;)

enjoy where your at as it seems comfy

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
