Not showing the satirical cartoons is allowing the attackers to win.  It is not just in Europe.  In the US, CNN, Fox, etc.  are not showing the cartoons.

People everywhere should start drawing and publishing cartoons that are acceptable by Western standards.

Not only that but we should take them and plaster them all over the cars in the parking lot at local Mosques during their Friday prayers.  Then when they come out and make terroristic threats on someone immediately arrest them.

The West needs to stop trying to suck up to these people it doesn't work.  Start going on aggressive offense.

If just half of the people that filmed the assault with smart phones had been armed with a gun instead of a smart phone and prepared to defend, all of those extremists could have been stopped before 12 innocents died FWIW

Exactly!  Heaven forbid that some law abiding citizens should have weapons to protect themselves and others from the criminals in our midst hell bent on death and destruction.

At least the French were smart enough to kill these cockroaches instead of letting them live for the rest of their lives on the taxpayers dime, like our Fort Hood "workplace violence" perp.

Very unlikely. There were armed guard in the building and at the meeting an armed police officer was present and killed.
After earlier threats the office of CharlieHebdo was still under police proctection. That the level was insufficient is clear.

It's always going to insufficient when the criminals and terrorists know that their opposition is limited to the few Police officers and armed guards.

I saw the video and from that vantage point it looked like shooting fish in a barrel if anyONE had a rifle.

Getting a (legal) rifle in Europe is harder as getting a tank in Russia.

Not at all. Several people I know have one. They are just not allowed to carry it every day to their job.

Is there a law that prohibits guns on their house roofs?

My point exactly. And you Europeans think we should give ours up. If those phones had been just hand guns. Those Muslims would all be enjoying their virgins by now

As I'm sure you know there are some Nationalistic parties and groups in France trying to defend their culture and country from the invading Muslim hoards.  They probably will be given some guns from Putin's Russia; it will just still be illegal to carry them, but they will likely get them anyways.

Considering what happens with shootings in the USA, wishful thinking.

That's because you only hear about what our left wing media wants you to hear about (96% of US media is left wing owned).  You don't hear about the hundreds of thousands of home invasions and robberies of stores which are thwarted by law abiding gun owners, because it's not the sensationalistic story that they want to fabricate.

Refer to the pro-Ukrainian arguments about Russian propaganda for your answer.  Yes we have it too.

We do not hear about them because we would feel America is an unsafe place to live.
Even corrected for population gun deaths are 10 times those of Europe.
It would be sad if we were forced to arm us because of some immigrant issue.

One small problem.  How does one know who the bad guys are?  Most Parisians who encountered the two Muslim brothers given their garb thought they were special ops policemen.  I understand those on the rooftop had escaped from the office, yet what happens if every person with a rifle starts firing from the roof tops.

The workplace would be where the assault should have been challenged.  Given all the threats made against Charlie Hedbo, if I had worked there I would have insisted on packing.  This would not only protect me from terrorists,  my boss would have to be careful when criticizing my work.   And women would be harassed less.      :D

What would the tradeoff be if every workspace was so armed?  Maybe not more than  100,000 accidental shootings per year.  That's nothing.  I can envision a film about this.

You have your culture and heritage there in Europe and we have our own here in the USA.

I don't care what you do there and you don't need to concern yourself with what the majority of Americans do here.

The days of Obama going to Europe and attracting large, cheering and naïve crowds is over.  Turns out that Obama has used drones more than Bush did and killed more innocent civilians in the process; hardly something that a bunch of pacifists in Europe are going to cheer about.

Really?  And how many other deaths would be caused of innocent people by those who 'thought' something was happening?
I have avoided the gun control in USA threads as it is clear that logic is irrelevant--your comments here illustrate that -- look at deaths of innocent people in US from guns every year-is there a better argument to illustrate why you do not want--or need the whole population armed.

The Allah ahkbars while gunning people down is a bit of a clue. If you needed further collaboration shooting someone in the head that was wounded on the ground yeah, he's probably a bad guy, too. Check out the video shot by cell phones Gator and see if you can figure out who needs to be shot at?  ;D

100,000 work place accidents, are you sure? Check the open carry states versus the gun controlled states and see how confident you are in that number. That decision to disarm the cops in Paris worked out real well too, didn't it?

Perhaps then you should practice more self-control. If I comment on every irrational post you've made I would have well over 10,000 posts by now
