Visa question
« on: February 05, 2015, 02:08:19 PM »
Hi all.  Just got my Visa back.  I am a little confused.  They asked for passport pictures but there isn't a pic on my visa, just a box that looks like there should be one

I've got a Russian visa in my old passport from 2006. In that little box is a hologram, not my passport photo. They probably keep the photos they requested for security reasons. You should be fine as long as you have a passport photo in your passport. Make sure the dates on your visa are correct too.

Thanks Billy.  No hologram but I called and they aren't putting that in now...Just three words I can read.  The dates are right.  I combed over it carefully

Yeah they stopped doing the hologram thing a while back, the photo is just going in a file somewhere I guess – since Dec they have changed the requirements again for apps in UK (not sure if this is running in US) – you now have to attend in person and provide biometrics.

Regards the entry and exit dates - I'm sure you did this but it’s always a good idea to have the end date overrun for a few days – it helps if you decide to stay a little longer or are delayed for any reason – specially useful when you travel as far in Russia as we do!

Remember, in Russia the date is listed day-month-year.

About the absence of a photo;  it says ''действительна без фотографии''  = valid without photos

Don't worry - it threw me, too

When the 3 year visa is the same price as 1 year why not get that ?
