Female KGB agent in USA on TV tonight
« on: February 05, 2015, 05:00:41 PM »
New series starting tonight, 5 Feb 2014 on NBC 10 PM EST.

Young female KGB agent sent under deep cover to USA 25-30 years ago.  Told to wait for instructions.
Married AM and has son who is CIA.

Now, after all these years, she gets assignment from Putin and his gang.

Included is to turn her son into double agent.

At least this is what I got from the previews.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Watched the show . . . and it was only so, so.

Ochka said we should watch again.

She had never heard of KGB putting its own people in an oven; just like many things they never heard back in the day.

The plot is pretty disjointed and quite unlikely; I would think.

The daughter is a hot chick . . . but a very back chick, it seems.

I actually enjoyed the show.  Took a while to find the alphabet channels on the TV.  Have not watched them for many years.
I did not catch whether this was based on a true story or pure fiction, but it retained my interest.  Will be putting it on my Thursday record list and see how it goes.

Bad or back?  I guess she could get information out of guys by "working" on her back.

I watched it and my only comment is that it was very interesting but pure fantasy.  Not so easy to tap an operatives phone.  Any normal operative would have immediately turned them (his own family) in to the FBI and made a full report about it, even if it meant him losing his job.  Most operatives are extremely patriotic and always put country above all else.

I enjoyed it.  It is not a true story though.  It is an American adaptation of an Israeli show "The Gordin Cell".  I sent the link to my RW to see what she thought and tell me how good the spoken Russian is.

The general broadcast of this series was apparently cancelled after 5 episodes.

I read there are 8 more episodes already filmed which can be viewed on-line.  We don't have fastest enough connection to view any films online.

I had told Ochka that I really didn't see a long term future for this series, because I couldn't see how they could drag out the plot very long.

But I didn't think it would be cancelled so soon like this.

The kid was the only compelling character in the show and he gets 15 minutes of air time?  It wasn't hard hitting.  EMPIRE love it or hate it, has a point of view and something new to say.  TV is generally kind of weak when compared to Breaking Bad or the Sopranos.  But it seems this show liked to play it safe.  When you sit in the middle, you get squished.

Bummer on the cancellation.  Thanks for the tips on the streaming option to see additional episodes.  Watched one last night and will watch another one tonight.
