I do believe that Putin and Nemtsov are very similar.  They are (or were) without question, Russian men.  Their histories show self-absorbed individuals who are/were not afraid to step on those around them.  The difference is the way they see government applied. 

Putin's vision for government is both short sighted and weak.  The Soviet Union only survived for so long because it was able to subjugate the nations around it, propping up a weak industrial base and lack of infrastructure.  Now we have an ultimate ruler in Putin, who also is looking to prop up a weak infrastructure.  He is using ultra-nationalism and oil as a means to create popularity for his government.  Ultimately, he will fail.

Nemtsov had a history of vacillating between political factions as far back as his early days with Yeltsin.  But as he emerged as one of the only surviving opposition members to Putin's strongman tactics, his path became clear.  He advocated peaceable assembly and change in the government to a more open and less structured (meaning totalitarianism) society. 

I'm not sure that Russians deserve a government that is open and more democratic.  The Germans had to be brought to their knees before becoming champions of a democratic system.  Maybe that is what needs to happen with Russia.

Meh.  I took it to mean the way I did, because Putin is a murderous thug who as Nemtsov said, does not believe in the 10 commandments. 

They are totally different characters.  Nemtsov may have been into young women, but that does not make him a murderer, a thief and a racketeer; who by the way is proud of getting away with stealing Crimea under a bunch of pretexts.
