Reminds me of the Patriotic videos we would sometimes see in school but are now banned by Obama as being too pro-American.

I thought he did that because he believes Americans should be ashamed of themselves. Remember that apology tour he went around the world on after he was first elected?

Are you not the one who is posting in Italian? How is it worse than Russian (when you have google translator)?
Discrimination in the Country of Freedoms? Or what?

I don't recall Sandro ever posting in Italian, other than as a response to something another poster has asked, specifically.

I think his point was it is impolite, as the majority of posters here communicate in English, predominantly, rather than one language is "right" and another is not.

If people complained to moderators every time there was a difference of opinion the moderators' work would be vastly increased and their pay would have to be raised concomitantly.  By the way, that word concomitantly isn't all that common. It is from the Latin concomitārī, meaning to accompany. If Sandro were here he probably could explain it better than I can. His Latin is far better than mine.

It is defined as "existing or occurring with something else, often in a lesser way; accompanying"

What should I complain about?  That you were wrong in asserting Sandro posts in Italian?

Ukraine says 2 Russian officers captured near rebel area

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — The Ukrainian government on Sunday claimed to have captured two Russian officers who were operating in the rebel-controlled area.

Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said on Sunday the two Russian officers have been taken prisoner by the volunteer Aidar battalion in the town of Shchastia, not far from the front line. He would not provide further details and said investigators were questioning the men.

Aidar said on its Facebook page that the two officers were wounded and taken captive in a skirmish in the area early on Sunday.

A year-long conflict between Russia-backed separatists and government troops in eastern Ukraine has killed more than 6,100 people. Russia has repeatedly denied that it was supplying the separatists with rebels or recruits despite the mounting evidence testifying to the contrary.

Shchastia, a town less than 20 kilometers north of the rebel-controlled regional capital Luhansk and home to a strategic power station, has repeatedly changed hands throughout the conflict.

Russia drops opposition to EU-Ukraine trade deal starting 2016

Russia has dropped its demands for a further delay in a landmark EU-Ukraine trade deal at the heart of the Ukraine crisis and accepts that it will now begin next year, the European Union said Monday.

"The reference that the (trade agreement) enter into force on 1 January 2016 was not contested by the Russian delegation," Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstroem said after talks with Russian and Ukrainian officials.

Malmstroem said there was a "clear understanding" that the deal would not be amended and would now be implemented on time.

Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev had "made no threats of retaliation of any kind... and told the EU and Ukraine they could do as they wished," she added.

Diplomatic sources said last month that Russia was seeking a delay but that its request had not gone down well.

A joint statement after the meeting, attended also by Ukraine Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, said the three sides would step up efforts to meet Russian concerns that its interests would suffer as a result of the trade pact, with officials due to report to ministers by July.

US wants progress on Ukraine deal after Russia diplomatic flurry

Moscow (AFP) - US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland called on Monday for concrete progress on a frayed Ukraine peace plan after a flurry of diplomacy with Russia over the crisis rocking the ex-Soviet state.

Nuland was in Moscow for talks with senior Russian officials that rounded out a week of high-level diplomacy which saw her boss John Kerry jet in to push President Vladimir Putin on implementing the February peace deal.

The talks have sparked faint hopes of an improvement in the shattered ties between Washington and Moscow, with the United States taking a more active role in seeking to keep the Ukraine deal mediated by France and Germany on track.

Clashes between government forces and pro-Russian rebels -- who Kiev and the West say are backed by Russia -- have rumbled on at strategic flashpoints across Ukraine's conflict zone despite the February truce deal signed in Minsk.

Nuland said talks were now focused on getting a full ceasefire implemented, as well as moving onto further steps in the peace plan including negotiating elections in the rebel territories and securing Ukraine's porous border with Russia.

Russia unveils bust of Putin as Roman emperor

Saint Petersburg (AFP) - A group of supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday presented a bust of the strongman depicting him in the heroic guise of a Roman emperor.

"We wanted to immortalise Vladimir Putin as a conqueror and statesman who returned Crimea to Russia," said Andrei Polyakov, the head of a group of Cossacks outside the northwestern city of Saint Petersburg.

Cossacks trace their origins back to horsemen who guarded Tsarist Russia's borders and are fiercely loyal to the Kremlin.

The imitation-bronze bust measuring about 50 centimetres in which Putin is depicted in a breastplate and flowing toga was created by sculptor Pavel Greshnikov using an artificial resin.

"The image of a Roman emperor is one of wisdom," Polyakov told AFP, saying it represented "the historic role of Vladimir Putin, who succeeded in reuniting Russia and Crimea".

Ukraine says Russia tried to kill captured Russian soldiers

Ukraine Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on Monday that Russia had tried to kill the two Russian servicemen Kiev says it has captured in east Ukraine.

Klimkin, speaking in Brussels after trade talks, declined to give details of how Russian forces had tried to kill the pair.

Ukraine's military reported on Sunday that it had detained two Russian servicemen, but the Kremlin reiterated on Monday that there were no regular Russian troops fighting in east Ukraine.

I hope we see lots of photos of them behind bars. And then I'd like to see a prisoner swap with the enemy, to free Nadia Savchenko.
