Boy, who would have thought that the Russians would engage in cheating?

Quote
Two Russian runners who received bans for doping, Yulia Stepanova and Liliya Shobukhova, blew open the doping scandal by speaking publicly alongside their husbands to the German television channel, and in Ms. Stepanova’s case, filming undercover videos and handing over evidence. Ms. Shobukhova admitted that she paid €450,000 ($483,000) to cover up her positive results.

I doubt any elite level track stars don't use performance enhancing drugs.  Today I read a story of a US track store tearing up over losing her medal to "Russian cheaters", when it is fairly obvious she cheats too.  She just hasn't been caught.

What is more disturbing about the story is the allegation of state involvement.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

I was trying to find the quote from an Olympic official who stated (not verbatim) that these actions demonstrate Russia thinks they can blatantly cheat and lie and get away with it. That was in response to the Russians response to the WADA report.

Yes, Russians are pretty full of themselves now because they have disobeyed all the rules of civilization (in many spheres), have thumbed their nose at the rest of the world . . . and have gotten away with  it.

Ochka related how on one leg of her trip last summer, she overheard some young men talking while boarding the plane.

They were saying:  We are Russians . . . everyone is afraid of us.

A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Russia Says 'Sure We Dope, But So Does Everyone Else'
The Moscow Times
Nov. 10 2015 20:16

“Russia's [doping] problems are no worse than other countries,” but “whatever we do, everything is bad,” Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said.
.

The Russian government considers the severe doping allegations leveled at their athletics program groundless and politicized, Russian media reported Monday.

An independent commission by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has recommended that the Russian athletics federation be declared "non-compliant" with anti-doping code, and be suspended from track and field competition, the report published Monday said.

Russia is correct, almost every pro athlete uses PED's in this day and age.
