We recently had a visitor from Moskva grace our beautiful city.  She is 41 years old and as pretty as a sunset.  I was volunteered to give her a tour of Los Angeles and had a chance to ask questions.

Here are some responses that I received:

1.  She makes her money from property she inherited.  She gets rent and pays for herself and her son.  She told me that she used to receive the equivalent of $3000 per month, net.   Now she receives the equivalent of $1000 per month, net.

2.  She loves the US.  This is her second trip here in six months.  Most of the time she spent by herself just getting to know our city and some of the surrounding area. 

3.  We talked briefly about Ukraine.  I did not take on the topic as I thought it too controversial.  But she had opinions.  She explained that Ukraine's problems were that most Ukrainians were lazy.  They would rather settle for not working if they had the opportunity.  Their rebellion was the direct result of that laziness and that if they operated their businesses like Russians do, they would not need to turn to the West for help.

I must confess, this was the first time I had heard this response.  But it demonstrated how Russians can be disdainful of Ukrainians with a more passive attitude.  Can't say that I was too impressed.

At 41 yo it would be hard for you to change her mind. She would have to witness with her own eyes that Ukrainians aren't anymore lazier than Russians. I know many Ukrainians and Russians that come to America and work hard if work is available.


I wonder if she gets her opinion from Russia's media? During the breakup of the USSR, Russia may have sold their people on the idea that people in those other nations were lazy and didn't pull their own weight.

I sometimes wonder where you find all these people who think like that? Is it a joke? None of the russians I usually communicate with think this way.

Really, probably she is just not mmm smart, sorry...where did she get such info? On TV? in Dom-2 show or smth like that probably I do want to meet a person with such kind of thinking in real life.

I have three ukrainian guys in my team now,  no difference with russians, the same guys, maybe just a little bit more noisy   But simple, friendly and hardworking.

For proof, go into any area of Russia or Ukraine where there are distinct pockets of each ethnic group.

The Ukrainian areas will always be better maintained, neater yards, much more productive gardens, etc.

With any form of manual labor, Ukrainians can outwork Russians hands down.

With brain power work, Ukrainians will stay with the job for many more continuous hours than will Russians.

I wonder just how much time she's actually spent in Ukraine to come up with this idea? IMO and just based on the above post she's picked this rumor up somewhere and taken it as truth.

Comparing Kiev nad Moscow I have to disagree with you. There was a clear advantage to the Russians.

However in both countries you will find hard working people and lazy bastards, and in both country they can be combined in one person.
