With a headline like that I had to read the story

They pulled out grilled meat, sausages, fish and started eating them and throwing them at customers ... When the owners tried to get them to leave a fight started and spilled into the street.  The cafe owners say neighbors, who are not happy with a vegan establishment being located there, joined in the fight.

I wouldn't have guessed there would even be a vegan cafe in Georgia. No delicious khachapuri there.

What are your thoughts on the fracas?

Here is a short video of a scene set in Ukraine where the American visitor reveals that he is a vegetarian. It's from the movie "Everything Is Illuminated". Much of the film was made in the czech republic I think but some was filmed in Ukraine. If you watch the entire film you will see some familiar sights.

The better half has been a vegetarian for over 35 years.   It was considered subversive in the USSR.  The daughter of one of his coworkers became a vegetarian, and the coworker told the better half  "It would be better had she become a prostitute."

Although still not mainstream, there are now more vegetarians in Ukraine.

I think that the vegetarians and especially the vegans would need to rent an apartment
and do most if not all of their own cooking and that they should realize that not many
accommodations will be made for them by restaurants or cafes.

I remember DonH while not a vegetarian has an egg allergy, which includes foods
made with mayonnaise (virtually everything in the fsu has mayo in it) was given
the stuff at a cafe after being assured that no eggs were in the recipe and had an
allergic reaction as a result.
